hey there,
I figured I'd introduce myself since I've been posting a bit around these parts.
I'm Mike. I live in Chicago. I had a '93 MTX back in 2000/2001 or so, and was lurking on these forums for a while back then. Like all kids I beat it up/smashed it up. RIP beautiful Red '93 MTX.
Nostalgia got the best of me, and I just bought a beautiful '90 MTX w/60k miles. It is almost mint. Nearly showroom/show car condition. It's bone stock, has been garage-stored its whole life. It hasn't ever seen snow. I'd be surprised if it's been driven in rain more than a dozen times. I do plan on keeping it that way (down to whatever parts I can source for wear/maintenance even).
I'm mechanically inclined but limited by my access to garages. I've got a summer garage in Chicago where I can't work on the car. I've got access to a garage w/a life in Michigan and good quality winter storage there, so I can do my beginning-of-season/end-of-season work and any planned maintenance there. I do have access to a garage with lift/tools I can rent by the day or hour, but that can obviously get pretty pricey. I'll be finding myself a solid mechanic directly, before I need it.
Anyways, hi. I daily a GTI MTX. I work with computers and I own a small retail store.
I appreciate the decades of information, howtos, troubleshooting, friendly banter, and not-friendly banter y'all have accumulated here and hope I can both contribute back and help keep it alive.
