Hey there.

I've seen some people say that a tune needs to be updated to properly handle the new found air flow with the new GH intercooler.

I've ALSO seen some people say that you can go back to stock without fear of having the GH intercooler still in place.

Those two seem to be mutually exclusive; it doesn't seem like BOTH could be true.

Question: is it safe to run the car (at all) without updating the tune? Or maybe just stay out of it, until I get an updated tune? Or is it fine, and I have nothing to worry about....

Thanks in advance,
S

The GH intercooler is about 20% larger in capacity so it takes the turbos longer to fill it with charge air. So, without a tune you WILL experience more turbo lag. But it will not hurt your car run with the intercooler and no tune. This is based on what I have read in the past on this.

You certainly don't have to have a tune after a larger intercooler. But a tune will help you take advantage of the larger IC. That's why you installed it.

It's like higher octane. It can only help, but unless you add timing/boost, you aren't taking advantage of it.

Yup! Experienced that. A tune is a must in order to take advantage of it. And MAN it runs great!
