Purchased back in 2015 largely for nostalgic reasons and almost immediately started obsessing over ensuring all maintenance was up-to-date (see below). Car shows just under 80K on the odometer which I believe to be correct based on the Carfax from when I purchased it. Further evidence of this is the exceptionally minimal amount of rust on the exterior and underneath. I’m asking $3,500 and will include the original and extra parts I have for that price. Pictures can be found at https://photos.app.goo.gl/AtJq7DmwFdsgheKB9.

Since I purchased the car/within the last few hundred miles, the following has been done:
  • Full 60K with new belts, crank sensor, and cam sensor
  • New ignition coil and wires
  • New water pump, thermostat, all-aluminum radiator, and hoses with coolant system thoroughly flushed
  • New cable shifter ends and fresh transmission fluid (added pipe plug per instructions on the forum)
  • New O2 sensors, exhaust 2-to-1 gasket, springs, and bolts
  • Fuel tank dropped, rust cleaned off, and painted
  • New fuel pump, vapor one-way valve grommet, and filter
  • Front spindles from a ’94 with new hubs/bearings running calipers off a Mark VIII (i.e., 96+ upgrade)
  • Brake calipers rebuilt and new pads, rotors, and rubber hoses all around plus new hard brake lines from proportioning valve to rear hoses
  • New halfshafts (including trans seals), lower control arms, inner & outer tie rods, front and rear stabilizer links, suspension bushings, and Monroe Quick-Struts including alignment
  • Replaced passenger front door wiring harness (original had been cut at entry to vehicle)
  • Seats replaced with ones from a later model (Gen 2?) which are 9.5/10 and carpet cleaned
  • New 225/50R17 Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 tires (on Borbet wheels)
  • New Kenwood media receiver (stereo) and Infinity speakers all around including 10" sub w/amp in trunk
  • Cleaned and re-oiled K&N air filter
  • New hood support struts

There are a few remaining issues:
  • Exhaust is leaking with large hole in driver side muffler, but isn't all that noisy
  • Engine mount(s) may need to be replaced (some polishing of intake manifold)
  • A/C is inoperable
  • Power door locks are inoperable (despite changing out door wiring harness)
  • Doors are not original to car and cards were previously modified
  • No antenna (but older satellite antenna box in dash)
  • Hood is missing two of the four bolts holding it to hinges
  • Remaining underhood rubber hoses (to vacuum reservoir and power steering) should be replaced
  • Rear bumper has a small crack
  • Paint shows its age with a few touch-ups needed (but has been clay-barred, polished, and waxed so it looks decent from 10 feet)

Other bits that will come with the car are: Ford shop manuals, various maintenance records, and some spare/takeoff parts including original spindles, brake calipers, and grille; door cards; some interior trim; and weatherstripping.

@Irish Pride I didn't intentionally ignore your question, just using outdated info to try to get this post up (thanks @Shaggy ). I'd prefer not to start piecemealing things out (yet), especially when it involves disassembly of bits already attached to the car.

I realized I was underselling the fact that this car has almost zero rust and I've been driving it a little which has led me to fix a few of the minor items on the negatives list (and remember other things I've done or should still be done). Original post is updated and a few pictures added to the link

I was thinking about keeping this car, but with how much driving I now need to do (working from home), it just doesn't make sense. Details updated since I took care of a few things and price dropped.

I updated the photo link with some new shots of the interior with all the stereo components in place.

Totally agree. The '90 I had and other later examples I'd seen made me think all came with power everything, automatic climate control, and fancy stereos. Then there's this '89 with manual climate, a normal whip antenna, and seemingly very minimal radio based on the wiring I found inside the dash. I was also baffled for a bit trying to pull codes with the check engine light until I discovered it wasn't in the dash cluster and had been previously unplugged. :bonk:

Car fired right up today after sitting since about November. Lots of $$$ in new parts so it should provide worry free enjoyment to its next owner for a long time to come.

Whereabouts exactly in Southeast Michigan? I’m in Northeast Ohio Cleveland area and I’ve been mulling over the idea about getting another gen 1.
I miss my 90 RIP

I'm in Canton, so about an hour north of Toledo. I-275 is maybe a mile from my house.
