I found this link made long time ago by an enthousiast. He collected all spy photos of the Gen3 (including the photo of the Yamaha intake) whom seems to have owned more than one gen and was able to make a good comparison between them.

Comparison between gens (spec and appreciation)

A must for any new SHO owner.

That orignal engine looks like it would be figure of legend if it made it through. it looks beastly with 2 surge tanks. following the intake design of the older one. and a huge MAF? that thing look scary it must of moved alot more air.

This bolts right up to our LIM? I see its basically the same valve covers. two throttles wow. somehow the design of ours us more simple, elegant but the functionality of this intake is attractive all its own. it would look good either longitudinal or transveres . ours if your turn it longitudinal just looks hidius

Not sure, probably, as our intake is the Ford "Plan B".

Even if it's bolting, the fuel rail connections on the other side, re-routing 2 intake air ducts, finding a place for the IMRC, bolting the EGR valve and secondary air pump will be the challenges at first sight...

(If we skip the chapter on how to keep your transmission alive...) ;)

To be sure not just any 3D Printer would be able to make something that would survive in those temps. But no doubt would be interested in thoughts of a redesign of the intake. While I don't like the looks of that one, the shape and color might be more the problem. The Gen3 is shiny and rounded, but makes accessing the fuel injectors and clearance of larger ones a problem.
