Are you going to make a video of the installation? Does anything have to be permanently modified on the car? I would be really interested if you could install and also remove in 10 minutes so you won’t get hassled when you bring the car in for service.

Does it work with your CAI? I saw on YouTube that a catch can with CAI required some drilling into the box .

Do you even need this if changing the oil every 5k or thereabouts ?

There are differing opinions on this. I believe any Boosted motor needs a catch can especially these Boosted DI motors. I change my oil every 3k miles and I get crap out of my catch can. I call it the dirty little secret.

Bottom line, the crap in the bottle of the picture I posted gets circulated back into the intake tract to get burn off. This is what causes the intake valves to cake up with crap. There isn't a injector pre-valve to clean the intake valve in these motor like the older FI motors. This is why many of the Auto Makers have added pre-valve injectors along with the Direct Injectors to remedy this problem.

The choice is your, do you want that crap going back into your motor? I don't.

This is true it can be very detrimental to your engine and its performance it is a great mod to have and simple to install to help preserve the life of the motor!

As posted in another thread I'd love to install this but thinking about the hassle of swapping it and the CAI out every 5k dealer service . I suppose the solution would be to let a shop other than the dealer do the regular oil changes . Maybe I should invest in the tools necessary to do my own oil changes and let Ford annually do the PTU, RDU and tranny.

Any reason why you have to swap the CAI and the catch can everytime if you went to the dealership? Just curious maybe we can offer advise

So as to not void the warranty on a future claim i.e. if they blacklist the car or make note of the changes from stock.

I have never heard of a dealership giving someone crap about a catch can. Most techs agree that the cars need a can. Also keep the stock hoses and just swap them out if you are worried.

You should never have an issue with just a CAI and especially not a catch can since it does nothing but help the vehicle and techs agree with it as explained here

I read somewhere that Ford declined a warranty claim because it had a CAI . There's also a bulletin from Ford that identifies modifications that it looks for including CAI, tstats etc

I wouldnt believe everything you read, i have never heard of a warrenty being voided on a CAI, for you to lose warrenty they have to prove that the mod on the car had something to do with whatever failed and a CAI isnt going to cause a failure

I’m not trying to bash or anything but awhile ago I was researching OCC for our platform and came across some threads where you guys said OCC’s were unnecessary. Why the change in view? Or have you guys found a better way than the other options out for the SHO?
