On my former MKZ, I did the calipers in black. Not sure what to to with the SHO. The guys at the wheel shop commented that the color the calipers are from the factory matches the new wheels...

I replaced my SEL brake calipers for a little under $500 for all four....after Core was returned. They come powder coated black from the factory and looked good with the Deep Impact Blue paint scheme.

What color would everyone recommend with a Ruby Red Metallic? I'm afraid the different red on the caliper will look strange with the red on the car. Refer to my avatar pic for the car color...

I'm thinking black or silver.... Thoughts?

I went with the G2 caliper paint system. Real easy to use and not that expensive. Plus for a little more they can paint match certain colors. Only downside is you can't drive the car till the product is totally dry and hardened, but I like it.

Prior to my Wilwood setup (& having its' bits powder coated) I used G2 on the SHO's stock calipers, as well as on other past project cars.

Quality product. Self leveling. Hi gloss. Multiple colors (including as you say, their ability to make custom colors for an extra fee).

Combine all of the above with it's long lasting durability, it's a no brainer.

I like that they're headquartered a scant 40min from me. Great facility they have.

I’ve been actually thinking about doing this, getting the custom color match. A question to those that have done it, did you find it easier to remove the caliper from the car to paint? Or is it possible to get to all the places with leaving the caliper mounted? I’m kind of **** when it comes to this stuff but time is at a luxury right now with a baby at home.

I removed mine. But then again, I'm OCD myself.

I've seen others leave them on. But wasn't quite as exact enough for my standards.

Part of removing them, allows for proper prepping of each, by sanding them and getting them as clean as possible for the painting.

It's the only way to do it in my book.

All in the prep work my friend.

I know the prep takes the most time and decides how good it comes out in the end. My car spent some time back east and there is a bit of rust. The time cleaning all that stuff off is what’s stopping me at the moment. If I got to unbolt everything I have a small powder coating setup, just might go that route. Thanks for the input.

I just did mine on the car, but the calipers weren't bad to begin with. G2 sends the prep spray with the package, but it's just a brake cleaner. You should probably buy more if yours are bad. I used a good degreaser, brake cleaner and 2 size wire brushes. They cleaned up well and easy to paint.

There was actually enough product to go around to each caliper twice too. That's helpful, because like bpd said, it's self leveling.
