'96 Rose Mist SHO Production Info

After a long debate, we've gathered information showing all 1996 Taurus VINs, from an inside source at Ford, that shows EIGHTY SIX Rose Mist Metallic 1996 SHO's produced. Originally it was thought to be a bunch of different numbers including 58 or under 200. The 86 cars we've come up with is the most concrete number I can find since it's directly from a source at Ford using a Ford database.

Below is a recently updated list of every Rose Mist. Highlighted in Orange/Yellow means the car is not scrapped based on recent history records, it's not deemed to be 100% Accurate in that aspect.

This thread is purely informational, and gives people an idea of the rarity of the Rose Mist in itself.

Some funky numbers based on the list above^
86 SHOs were painted Rose Mist.
38 cars have unknown whereabouts.
27 cars have known wherabouts and are not scrapped.
21 cars have known whereabouts and have been scrapped.
75 cars were built in 1996.
9 cars were built in 1995.
5 cars of the 9 built in 1995 are assumed to be test mules.
3 cars were exported from the US.
2 cars were built with Night Mist (Grey Violet) interior (both were Japan Exports)
1 car was equipped with manual HVAC controls.
0 cars were equipped with cloth seating.

Anyway to update that photo? It says third party hosting is disabled. I'm getting ready to purchase a Rose Mist this evening so I'm wondering if she's already accounted for.

Last known named owner Matt Duque. #71 on the list.

I think the third party hosting is a setting you can adjust on your side, might be forum related, might be a CPU security setting.

I'm wondering if my VIN is on your Ford list.
I tried to get a Marti report 3 or 4 years ago and Ford could not locate it.

I'm happy to know that this one will now have a good owner. Good luck (and good ride).

I have made my own list of RM if you don't find the one of Josh. Just let me know. I also added some more infos on it (equipment, last seen place, last date spotted, rolling or not, reported cam failure, sale distric, etc.). I took and class all photos I found of RM for sale by their number.

We also made and record some carfax for them when we are able to have them (in 2015/2016).

(As I'm an records manager, I don't trust third party... All is on my computer with a RAID 10. But it will be safer to split the risk if I can give you a copy Eric.)

Butterflybetta I confirm that you have #71.

Mrecoolgar, yours is #23. Near a little brother of Josh one. These ones (yours and ex-Josh one with the one of Ty) are the sooner in production that the owner is known and still rolling.

Josh and me had discussion on Ford performance group (FPG) which produce inaccurate reports for SHO production numbers (they think there were 56 rather than 86...). I think they are Mustang production oriented. On contrary, Marti report reveal almost the same RM production number (85) as the Ford list that Josh had from Ford (86). I double-checked all VIN in a another Ford database just to be sure, there were 86.

P.S. There can be a 87th but it's another long story...

It's been a looooong time since I've been by here...Nice to see some folks still carrying the torch for the 'ol RM....

I took a look at the excel file, looks like I'm still on there, just wanted to note, that the car was sent to a salvage yard in Austin, TX near the airport (Austin-Bergstrom) after my unfortunate wreck. I don't know if anyone ever made it down there to pull any parts from it, but my engine had low miles (at the time) and was only two weeks old from having the cams welded. I do hope someone grabbed the motor...

Which end got smooshed?

I know Edguardo is in Texas now and he recently had his nose punched in pretty hard.
