So I've finally gotten every thing in order for this build after almost 5months of research and planning. 4 nozzles total.

The goal of this build was to design a setup to attack the largest deficiencies of our 3.5 ecoboost transverse setup, via staggered methanol injection.

#1. Small stock turbos - why not use the cooling power of the methanol to cool the air charge at the source of heat - compression. Pre turbo meth injection cools the air charge allowing cooler discharge temps, via more efficient compression less compression losses cooler discharge temps. Pre-Turbo injection effectively extends the compressors boost map, making it behave like a larger turbo. Using a small 1gph high quality nozzle about 8inches up the intake tubing from the compressor wheel should allow me to exploit the benefits of wet compression without worrying about wheel erosion.

#2. Intake manifold distribution/Methanol atomization.

One of the other design factors for this setup is methanol atomization. The supplied nozzle (15gph)with the alky kit is good, but 15gph divided among 2 or more nozzles will lead to better atomization and ultimately better distribution in our intake manifold. Take into consideration that our intake manifolds dont distribute meth evenly due to that 45° bend after the throttle body forcing the charge air to change direction. The larger droplets of meth have more mass than the air, causing them to travel in a straig line, and end up riding the manifold wall; traveling to the rearmost cylinders intake runners. This causes the rear (right bank) of cylinders to receive more meth than the front (left) bank. This can lead to compromises with tuning (direct port solves these). By utilizing more nozzles with more precise orifices, we can inject a finer mist which will distribute more evenly to the cylinders for combustion chamber cooling, thus a higher total level of knock reduction. So here at the throttle body, I have a 7gph nozzle, which is approximately half of my total system potential.

#3 Intercooler efficiency -

Our intercoolers are not as efficient as say the f150, fusion, and definitely not like a focus RS. So another nozzle right at the intercooler exit pipe should cool the air charge further. Since the piping to the throttle body is short, (about 12 inches) we should see some of the meth mist at this injection point make it into the intake and to the cylinders for combustion chamber cooling (major knock reduction zone). I have a 5gph nozzle here at the intercooler exit.

Total system methanol injection nozzle volume remains equal to the single nozzle included in the kit. In theory, tuning should be similar. Not exact...but similar. I will have Lms dyno tune after I prove the system out.

Now, on to the specs and parts list

14.97gph total (944ml/hr @100psi)

4 devils own nozzles
D01 1gph pre turbo(s)
D05 5gph post intercooler

Devils own nozzle holders

3 y fittings

All stainless steel braided line

Devils own 2.5 gal tank

Devils own bulkhead fitting

Lms Alky methanol Kit

Various fittings for re-terminating braided stainless to correct lengths/angles.41cedda74008ffb3f2c9217d12a30e3a0f0c0c3877c6edc553a8226fb8648334

I started by measuring, marking, removing and drilling/tapping holes for the nozzles.B469adc0417e2437fed94f505610e39bB12576b0514008cadcde742faaf16a184f0df85022d41776041d32576d02ee9213f7b8996db79ff8785ab1953359047787c9a4ae6952b9b12b7f83b395ce158dAaf3af1e4e11e568de41a01f9d2048d67ddb06fd84e26d8572d9e0e83f572607Cede55d1ad1986601ef8821b67b0173eD307dcac4b49c4ff6fc3ced99e841203Fa141df87ba15c38d543c2b97685a575

Setting up the trunk mounted tank, low level sending unit, and bulkhead fitting. 23b526064a205918817835fab741a4e508e012ffff72d72239a0ede29b0127074f9c6cb5299963389694dd293b6ebf18A3ef934aa368372f0f3af0ee4090a4253f0e79df908c0e8a92bbb4d2cd1208eaE9523cf698b1714bb0633561cefd3dce5bc80b716b5cf10ffb5ef2dbe272f2eb

I used purchased the devils own. Self sealing an-4 (1/4”)tank fitting/ filter, but later removed it because I liked the idea of using the large an-6 (3/8) lines and fittings supplied with the alky kit. I also later realized that the low level sending unit goes "connector down".

I used 16ft braided stainless line. I pretty much followed the fuel/brake lines from the engine bay all the way back to the rear subframe through the channel underbody, to the bulkhead fitting. I convoluted the entire way back to avoid any potential abrasion damage to the solid steel brake or fuel lines from the braided stainless. 7ff66c80758f5aaffc7973962cd6ca6b408fb919560febbd3736bed94f2e80634f608789276ff780ed9904abeef2a12f452ab58e62f302c43a1a8b0ccd8164f40688d45bce08f88b5a72e171405649f83fc557b16aee42aacf9b60f8678674a96219cdd9989c5c2cb1b0b219c20bdf0e

Took some measurements, and re-terminated the lines for the pump to filter and filter to bulkhead. Mounted the alky pump and installed the pump supply lines and fitting.5c705f98baf4a496025761f8bc4ae31a0cae373332f4556588938ff844f80a450c843bfeb301e4e4ded396d565d27f825fb1c6641d5b499b75b48e3e3485280d61b40602ac7b3b5092cb4b50733c3d68

Completed the engine bay meth line routing connections and reassembly. Added convolute to lines to prevent rattles, abrasions and make for a nice clean OEM appearance. Tightened and paint marked lines and fitting. 2aea158c8205a0ae730246e5f972a23cEed6dafdaf25c94a6d476ad4a4c10e7d47b36aa95b4da1c82da73c6cd97b3a27

I also cut and added a few pieces of trans line as a line bushing where some of the lines rub.

Nice work, and thank you for taking the time to do this writeup. Lets see, hopefully it works 100% perfect out of the gate.

Ran pump harness+ low level signal wire to main alky box in the driver side dash. Installed meth level and activation lamps (sunlight makes this a bad location to see the green lamp but i love the look.) Crimped, Soldered, heat shrank and bundled everything up nicely. Mounted the box so that the tuning adjustments can be easily made. So after its all said and done this is pretty much it. And everything works. Just have to mount the gain box. I'm thinking of Velcro'ing it here and in a hidden location under the dash as well. That way I can put it out of sight or have it in reach when I need to. Just have to add meth and leak check.2e545db22bbbf5bcf135231be333843640480efb5b7442d4eb3feb0c6bdd0a03015a40699f005c14703823c3b3d79a42F74f74dab60efe0266724f301a1044df86582353fa3964f9b608355c1fd6877e

Did you put a check valve before all the nozzles?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No I did not. I'm going to tho. I installed the 1 at both 'y's before the lines to the injectors but im getting a bit of stumbing after a meth run during a hot restart (running in the store, gas station etc). So yea, 2 more check valves are in order.

There is a check valve on my single nozzle... and occasionally after a very hard run it will stumble on the next startup if it's still hot...

Wow great job I would like to see how it reacts and what the iats will be like

Hopefully within the next week I will be able to log some runs on torque. I plan on comparing Iat temps "meth on vs meth off" and probably some runs with just the preturbo nozzles spraying. I'll just cap off the leg at the 'y' going to the throttle body/CAC out nozzles.

Thanks, its working great so far. I still need to do some logging runs to compare. And pull the turn ilet CAC tube to inspect the turbo compressor wheels after I finish this 5gal pail o'meth.
