Dealer Chasing a Vibration 2013 MkS Ecoboost

2013 Mks ecoboost 45k on it
So i finally found a dealer on the 3rd try to feel the vibration and start trying to fix it . I have a shake in my seat bottom and steering wheel at 55-75 . I think its at lower speeds but i don't notice it like when i'm just on cruise control to work .

New tires 3 weeks ago , road force balanced and then checked again and came in under 10lbs of road force
Last saturday i got a call the car was done and drove like buttah . They replaced the driveshaft. Needless to say i was happy they found and felt it and replaced something .

Brought it home and same thing , no change for the better or worse. So it went back monday after work . Friday the 16th 2016 i called and they said the ptu was low on fluid and had internal damage . So now im waiting on that to be replaced . Could the ptu cause a vibration you feel in your ass when your driving . The passenger can feel it too . Where my right knee rests you feel it and in the wheel faintly .

Whats the chance its not that , im thinking the rdu may have an issue. Finger crossed its the ptu .

I have no direct experience with the PTU or driveshaft in the SHO, but I do know about driveshaft, u-joint or bearing failures. It really could be the PTU was the cause. I hope so

As long as it's on Ford's/Lincoln's dime, just play through the pain Could end up with a whole new drivetrain in the process!

yeah im hoping it wasnt the ptu and they do the center section . I still dont have the damn car back . you think ford would overnight shit .

I've had this same vibration for almost a year now, I ran out of warranty and I gave up...

Got the car Friday drove it to work today and the vibration is back. So it's gonna go back.

yeah , i called today and they seemed really helpful so hopefully the rdu is next on things to be replaced.

To those of you chasing phantom vibrations, I want you to know I feel your pain. However, there is (potential) light at the end of the tunnel. At the very beginning of this year, 2016, my nightmare began. After visiting the local dealer several times, countless(!) trips to the tire shop where I bought the tires, and several visits to a reputable(?) front end shop, I took the car to a large metropolitan Ford dealer and left it for the day. When I got it back, the vibration was gone!!!!! The culprit? A bent wheel. They balanced the tire/wheel assembly and put it on the left rear. Car runs smooth as silk.

Why the other guys, -especially the tire shop-, could not find that problem I have no idea!!! I was floored that it was so simple, and I am extremely grateful to that dealer and their staff.

ALSO, please note that your tires themselves could possibly be the culprits. I have had two sets of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires that will cause the car to vibrate until they are warmed up.

I hope that helps. You may simply have to shop around until you find some competent people. IMVHO, if the PTU were bad enough to cause the car to vibrate, I doubt it would be driveable and likely making some hellacious noise! Also, again, a failing half-shaft driving one of the wheels, likely the front, is also a potential culprit.

they swapped wheels on mine and it stayed the same , i was hoping it was something simple like a bent wheel .
