Rich seems to be the only one I know to make mixing E85 work, but also just dropped the non meth record without using any E85, so who knows. Just go with straight up race fuel.
I mix...12.4@111 just tune and drop in filter...f the naysayers...it works on the stock tune quite well.. I think fomoco has ran stock with it and dropped a couple tenths easy

And for the record. Rich was still running e85 mix when he ran the 12.05.

I've already become a believer in mixing e85 with premium in the past few months. My mix is 5 gallons to 14 which is e30 and overall octane around 96.5. The car just went 12.24 @114 with only e30 3 bar unleashed tune, t-stat, drop in filter, and downpipes this past Wednesday

Did you datalog and get your tune updated with Torrie after you started mixing?

Ok, so adding E ups the overall octane rating of the gas in the tank right? If your car is tuned to run 93 and you add enough corn to jump it up to 96+ you shouldn't see any additional power, right? I could see that in some places where you are running a 93 tune but have crap gas so your knock sensor is pulling timing but when you add the E you are getting that added timing back. Otherwise it's like running car designed for 87 and putting 93 in it... Not really helping.

I will be the first to admit I am a hobbiest here and still learning... spark tables are not givin free range to advance as far as they can right? There are spark tables designed for certain octane ratings so the car doesn't just advance itself into oblivion with just the knock sensor between you and pistons on the ground?

^it will give you slightly more timing. But the magic obviously comes when you tune it. You can run some pretty obscene timing numbers in boost. E85 has an effective octane rating of like 160 in direct injection.

100% agree that if TUNED for it, you can see substantial increase in output... Cheap octane right... I wonder what the OAR was for the guys seeing substantial increases before the added E...

Interestingly enough... My OAR on ANY of the tuners tunes I have run with 93 octane gets to -.96 at best... I wonder if by adding a gallon or two of E if the OAR will bump to -1..thus getting a very small bump in timing... Should ask AJPturbo... He was playing with OAR ratios at one point....

Yes, I'm on my third revision from Torrie with this particular mix. I even datalogged right before going to the track to make sure everything checked out good and had enough fuel pressure

^I give the same advice for anyone trying it.....go add two gallons of e85 to a full fill up. You will notice a difference. After that log and enjoy.

It's important to log right away. Just to make sure don't have fuel pressure issues. And then you can run more.
But guys have picked up 20 to 30whp on the dyno running a mix. And it's cheap. Lol.

Maybe 20-30 if tuned for it... Or again... You have craptastic gas and the added E helps offset that...

Not really worried about fuel pressure with only a gallon or two of E.. I'm not running a tune that hammers my fuel rails...worst drops I see are in first and that's in the high 1900...

I would still datalog it though just to have some hard evidence that the added octane actually makes a difference if you aren't having knock retard/OAR is -.96 to begin with...

Because e85 is awesome. Especially in boosted applications.
I am not arguing that... Just don't see where someone picks up 20whp without being tuned for it... Unless they have crap gas and the E offsets it.

Pretty sure that info actually came from rich on fb. I had a pretty well dialed in tune from Torrie. And adding 2 gallons was immediately noticeable.
But, a lot of guys who haven't tried it. Have the same opinion as yours.

Lol.. point taken... I just want some hard evidence... But I can get my own.

I tried to use that line on my wife once... Didn't get me very far...but it did get me a full nights sleep in the guest room..

Hahaha. You also have a point.
But you're right. Trying it is the best way to prove my point.
