I've been hunting around for a top speed record for a Gen 4 SHO, and found this article, citing 222mph on a tuned SHO, estimated 500hp. Very nice.

Takes a LOT more than 500hp to push a car with the frontal area of a SHO to 222mph.
Ah, I see. That was a Daytona Prototype, powered by a 3.5 ECOboost engine. And this was an average speed for an entire lap. I'm sure the car can go faster in a straight line with proper gearing and aero.
But no way to push something the weight and size of a SHO through the air that fast with only 500hp. Maybe 800hp would do it.

It for sure wasn't a Gen 4 SHO. A Riley Prototype with a Yates engine and a few mods to the turbos. I've hinted to those guys to throw their mileaged out ones my way more than a few times.

Awwww... I didn't catch that it was a completely different body, etc. The pic implied... oh well. I wonder what the practical top speed is for one of ours with different tunings.
Makes me want to write a test n tune simulator to test various mods and scenarios to answer some of these questions. Don't know if its really worth the time and effort for the research though. (The coding's the easy part. If some wants to put the time into research and data gathering, I could seriously throw something together.)

to date i've registered 145 up a hill....i was quite impressed....my girlfriend, not so much lol

I've heard about high 160's, low 170's with the governor removed, but never seen anything proof-wise.
Maybe something will come up from one of the Saudi SHO's eventually.

For all us gen 4's with the Livernois tune, the governor is removed. (Not sure about unleashed, but it would make sense) Anyone have any record top speeds to post?
