12" x 1.1" Brakes

There was an old vendor on here that had cut down and re-drilled 13" rotors that would fit under the slicers. It was part of a kit with the PBR cobra calipers also. Are they still around and offering this?

SHOSource is currently offering a 12" kit. The old Vadim site is just informational now, but they used to offer cut Corvette rotors I think.

OR you can just buy some late model 12'' Crown Victoria rotors (12''x1.1'') , elongate one of the bolt holes, problem solved.

Pretty sure they are the same as the Cobra Rotors. 70.something. Any difference would be negligible.

They're the same dimensions as cobra rotors, just 12" instead of 13".

Those were the BAER Brakes, they used 'vette rotors they were designed for the earlier 89-93 spindles. You had to modify the spindle somehow by cutting an ear or two off and they had custom made brackets by BAER. At 12.5 inches rotor diameter the swept area isn't anywhere near the 96+ 11.6 upgrade (narrow pads), but the unsprung weight is a little lower.

There was also the TCE brake kit, that used 12.2 inch Wildwood rotors and Wildwood calipers, this eveloved over the years to other staggered piston Wildwood calipers and thicker rotors. That would fit under slicers.

Separately you could use 94+ spindles/hubs with a turned down Cobra rotor (12.0 or maybe only 11.6 SHO rotor) and modify the Cobra caliper bracket. Tom W. did this first, but only so that he could swap out the 13 inch rotors for 11.6s in order to mount 16 inch drag slicks. The swept area on the 11.6/Cobra caliper combo is very low (e.g. no performance increase)

SHOsource sells a 12'' kit with Cobra PBR Calipers. If he has this kit, then all he needs is Crown Victoria rotors.

If anyone else wants to make this kit for themselves, you can order brackets from Baer to fit Cobra brakes on 12'' rotors (You have to call them and then just act like you own a Mustang, mention "Camaro Mustang Challenge" brackets). They cost like 115 bucks or something like that. Another option of course is to just re-drill the Cobra Caliper brackets to fit the 12'' rotors, the measurements to do so are somewhere on this board. The advantage to this of course is being able to run 16'' wheels (Slicers with spacers). You also don't lose much in performance as the swept area on the Crown Victoria rotor is identical to the stock 13'' Cobra Caliper. You may have to VERY slightly grind down the face of the caliper bracket for this to work (Unless you buy the Baer Brackets).

Milling down Cobra rotors is such a waste of money when the Crown Victoria rotor is much cheaper and already 12'' in diameter.

Just drill and tap the holes up a half an inch in the bracket, but then it has to be milled flat.

Last time I checked with Baer, the 12" brackets were about $80 each and came with the spacer needed.
