Hey guys, I've been searching the forums and the web in general but I can't find anyone else with this problem in a 2013.
Car waits 2-4 seconds to respond to the the throttle, the problems been there for a while, but I usually just shift into sports. Today I was going between 10-20 when the car in front of me made a right turn, wanting to have some fun i put the pedal to the metal. The car decided to cut power for a good couple of seconds before jerking forward. Acceleration also feels slower than usual, up shifts have become rough, with jerking motions between 2-3 and sometime 3-4.
Don't know if it matters but I had recently installed an airaid and have also painted the engine cover with plasti dip. These problems started appearing before, but have become more noticeable and common recently.
Can anyone offer any insight? Car has 4400 miles and had an oil change between 3300 and 3400. Come to think of it problems started after the oil change, and even before it there were a couple times where I could feel the pedal vibrate when accelerating slowly around 20~30mph

It is definitely do to the plastic dip..... OMG...

I guess I would be taking it into the dealer. You were unclear as to whether or not it does it in sport mode. If not... has to be programming. Did the dealer do the oil change? My guess is that they will just re-program the ECM as a first test.

Good Luck and keep us in the loop.

Check the trans fluid level also as per the owner's manual. Shouldn't be off with such low mileage, but you never know.

Thanks for the replies guys, will check the trans fluid tomorrow, but will definitely still swing by the dealership asap. It's just frustrating how I've already had to take back to the dealership 3 times in less than 4 months of owning the car. :frown:

@Ecobrick bob, I had the oil changed at the dealership. i also wasn't clear in my original post, but the the incident today when I put the pedal to the metal did in fact happen while in sports mode.

will keep you guys posted, hopefully this will be a quick fix. *fingers crossed

There more than likely is a new PCM program. Assuming you don't have it tuned aftermarket correct? They tend to update things but never tell anyone.

Didn't see anything like your issue in the TSB or SSM list.

So I took it in today and took one of the mechanics for a ride, and of course the problems weren't really noticeable. He asked me if I had taken the CAI out and was cool enough to still take it in. He said that it's most likely the PCM, hope he's right. I'll keep you guys posted.

You mentioned that you've had it back to the dealer several times. What are the other issues you've had? Maybe they are related....

I doubt they are related, the last couple of visits to the dealership was to deal with my ford touch issues, but with how interconnected car electronics have become there's still a possibility. The first time there was an a-pin that was busted, the second visit was to update sync, because the entire system would black out from time to time while I was driving.

I have a 2013 SHO with PP and I have experienced all the same problems. The hesitation when I hit the gas to pass or change lanes. The screen going blank. But I just turn on the headlights to correct that problem. But the navigation is the worst. It is so slow to update. I have missed a turn or exit a few times cause the map froze. Fords SYNC sucks! I am so disappointed with the car. I did the Livernois 93 Tune with down pipes, intake and thermostat and I still get the hesitation.

By any chance, did you check to see if the knock sensor wiring is chafing? Seems even without an actual short, it can affect performance.

I believe that they moved those wires for either the '11 or '12 model, when I checked I couldn't find them...

I got the car back on Wednesday and resisted the urge to reinstall my airaid to see if the problems were caused by it... After 200miles or so I've noticed that the hesitation and rough shifts are not as bad, but none the less still present. I haven't had the power cut out yet, but acceleration doesn't feel as effortless compared to when it was new and isn't immediate either. MPG is up though, before I was averaging between 16-18 and now it's consistently above 20. As far as I know the only thing the dealership did was reflash the pcm. I hate to say this, but if they can't fix this problem I may have to trade this baby in for something more reliable, but most likely slow :(. I hate how much I loved this car when it was working 100% and I can't stand not being able to have it perform the way it did.

Don't think this is a common issue on the SHOs, but could be an electronic throttle body issue also. Some other Ford models have run into that particular problem. Throwing another idea out there.

It's under warranty, bring it to another dealer. Make them fix the car.

So its back, and this time it almost got me t-boned. I'm calling the dealership first thing tomorrow morning, but does anyone think that this could be turbo related? It feels a lot like turbo lag, and it's only really bad when I hit the gas from a rolling stop. On another note, my a/c is on the fritz as well...

That sounds very consistent with what my 2011 PP was doing. My dealer performed a couple of TSBs, one for a new valve body and one for new firmware. One or both of them fixed the issue. I've had no further instances in about a year. When I took it in I was also having issues with a delayed and harsh reverse engagement so one of those TSBs may have been more to fix that issue.

I've been so busy that I keep on forgetting to update, but I dropped the car off wednesday morning and got a call around 5 saying that they couldn't find anything wrong with the car, and therefore they couldn't perform any tsb's. Both the service manager and a technician took my car out for a drive and tried to replicate the problem while having a computer plugged in, but nothing abnormal came up. They said that what I am experiencing is most likely turbo lag, but acknowledged that seeing how the problems weren't there when the car was new that there could very well be an issue with the car.
I do have to give them credit for being as helpful as protocol allows them to be. I've been able to get a loaner every time, and when one wasn't available they've always given me a used car to use as an "extended demo." They also know that I've had an airaid in there before and the tech that I took along for a ride the first time I brought the car in asked to make sure that it had been taken out already. Coupled with the fact that they have never made any absurd excuses and are always genuine makes me reluctant to seek other dealerships.
Now the question is whether these problems I have been experiencing are actually a result of unrealistic expectations on my part and it is only turbo lag, or if there really is an underlying issue with my Sho. Thoughts?

Do a search on the forums and look for a post about knock sensor wires. Sounds like they may be chaffing against the engine block.

That was the first thing I checked, but ford moved those wires even before the 2012 model.
