So I think I have decided to get a SHO. I keep coming back to it as I explore my options.

But can't decide if it is worth getting a 13 or saving the 15-20g and getting a 10 or 11. I know the 13 has the better cooling ads and brake components but I have no intentions of tracking it. Just some aggressive street/ canyon stuff once I add some Livernois magic ( anything I can get except meth) to it.

Opinions?

I think for most DD use and occasional spirited driving a '10-12 SHO with the PP will be just fine. The '13 is a nice upgrade for sure, but remember, pretty much all of the mechanicals, like the bigger brakes, can basically bolt on to a '10-12. You could use that 15-20k you save on those parts. The biggest difference is the looks obviously, but it doesn't sound like you're set on either or. The '13 also has My Ford Touch, which is still having teething issues and would recommend avoiding it until they're resolved.

Having experience with both the '10 and '13. If you don't plan on tracking it a '10-'12 with PP would be find because can add the '13 tranny cooler and new brake hard parts including master cylinder and booster. The luxury options in the '13 very nice also the interior is a little bit nicer.

You can buy loaded 2010s, reasonable miles, for under 30k all day long; probably closer to 25 if you do some work. You can buy my old one if you hustle on down to carmax in fact I think they have it listed for 28,999. I haven't checked per se but I would guess a loaded new 2013 will be 40 something before tax/fees.

Yea they list for $50-55k new here. 2010's go for low to mid $30's and 11-12's go for low $40-47's.

I'm in this same boat right now.

My local dealer has a 2010 402B with 20s and nav, but no PP. They also have a brand new 13 400A with PP and Nav. Price difference is about 10 grand.

Already have a 2012 Mustang GT for play....

If you already has a Mustang as your play car then get the Non-PP SHO. Its a fun, great DD that can get 28MPG+ on the freeway.

If you can handle the difference... 10 grand for 4 model years is CHEAP!

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Good to see you Bob, glad to see you are keeping up the humiliation of "fast cars" with your brick!

Looks like most of the 2013 improvements can be added (Brake rotors, booster, MC, Oil and ATF coolers etc).

Don't really care about MyFordTouch or the new fascia that much.

Went and looked at both the 2010 and 2013 today.

The 2010 is a 402B, with nav and massage seats, no ACC. Has 19K and is Certified with extended warranty.

Price difference is about $7 grand, not $10.

Still, $7 grand isn't pocket change.

The 2013 drives really nice, and the brakes are killer compared to the 2010 and 2011 that I had. Not sure if its worth the 7 grand difference.

Maybe if they developed a symbol for the Taurus like they did/had for the Mustang/Thunderbird/Cougar, the newest grilles would gain some awesomeness.

Resale in 4 years will be at least 7 grand better, if they are comparably equipped plus PP. 2013 front end looks much better than earlier SHO's.

Very good point bob. The 2010 is a 402b with nav but no pp.

The 2013 is a 400a with nav and pp.

Hmmmm
