Just wondering if the stage 4+ tune is safe to run with winter coming soon and colder denser air and winter grade gasoline?

I'd be more concerned with weather being too hot... Because if they put more timing in their tune, cold air just means that they could add even more timing before pinging... As for winter grade gasoline, I am not too familiar with it, so can't elaborate more than that. That said, I remember talking to Dan from LMS and he told me that with cold weather, even stage 2 would be more than enough as the car is more powerful (to use his exact words)... I am hesitating to go back to stage 2 though because the power is awesome and seems to get just better with cooler weather, but then it will be the challenge of traction from 0-40mph. Knowing myself, I will probably keep it stage 4+, just not WOT too much from 0-40mph but keep the potential for beyond. ; )

It's definitely ok to run the 4+ year round, but a lot of people, including us go back to the stage 2 for the winter months. As you know, turbo cars like cooler air and they will make more power when it's cold.

My DD turbo Cobalt SS made 20 lbs. in the summer and 24 lbs. in the winter.

Why do you go back to stage 2? Traction issue? Engine preservation?
Thanks!

Rick, Thanks for the reply. The stage 4+ might get a little scary with snowy roads and cold tires!!! Jim

LOL

Only 2 problems with your idea....first, my wife has not retired yet and wants to work a few more years and second, she doesn't like Florida, and has made it clear she does not want to live there. Me, on the other hand, being a scuba instructor and all, thinks living in Florida would suit just fine....oh, well...maybe I could get her to at least consider a few months in Bonaire each winter. ;)

Geez Bob, half of Canada is there now -- if the other half came it would be way too crowded.

Just think of all those unhappy Canucks who would be pining for the snow and season changes......Sounds unbearable.:scared:

btw - I'm leaving my Stage 4+ in all winter -- won't hurt and it'll probably optimize gas mileage.

Just to keep the thread on track, my 4+ loved the weather in Pennsylvania today. It was 52 and air was dry, so on I-80 on the way to pick up son at college, the car was really making a ton of power, really was getting into the power curve at 85 mph, but I was afraid to keep my foot down...this is an "aggressive enforcement week" for driving in my area. But the car and tune really liked the cool dry weather.
