Update: more info about the engine. Now the numbers make a lot more sense.

80mm MAF/cone filter
EH intake/BBB's
ported heads
cams, unknown specs
custom pistons with raised comp (unknown CR)
catless custom exhaust
LPM

I went in expecting 220 or so whp, based on what I thought had been done to the engine. After the first run, I heard the operator say '202'. Well, thats okay I guess. Then I saw the screen, and saw that the 202 was my TQ reading. My HP reading was....

255! Color me suprised! This car feels plenty healthy, but I attributed much of that to the diet it had been on. Apparently it also has some legs! I did two more runs, my highest numbers were after a cool down, when I dyno'd what you see below:

257.5hp/206.3tq

I was very pleased!

Here is a closeup from another run, in which I took the engine all the way to 7700rpm. I was told by the previous owner that the head porting he did gained 25+hp, and that the car now pulled all the way to redline. I believe the last part for sure.

So this car has Cams as well, Correct?'

Even with Cams, those numbers seem a bit bloated...but I guess a trip to the drag strip would tell us the real story (I.E. -105 MPH Traps with a car that lite if it was making that kind of power)

Obviously this car has cams, not sure how I didn't see that before, considering how well it makes power over 7000rpm.

Also, this was on 91 octane. I have a feeling the LPM might be tuned to take advantage of some stronger go juice.

Sam, obviously you are jealous, as you know your green turd will be no match for my champagne chariot next year at Brainerd! HAHA!

Although those do seem high, the torque curve is nice... It looks like the rolled onto the throttle at 4,500 RPM or had a bad RPM pickup.

I agree, the peak number seems very reasonable, it how it carries out which makes one think it might have cams if the numbers are true.

I was told it had stock cams, by Mike Courtney himself. And I do not believe the last owner did a single thing to the car from the time he purchased it from Mike.

Sam, obviously you are jealous, as you know your green turd will be no match for my silver chariot next year at Brainerd! HAHA!

but seriously, the hp number did seem high to me. If I had an unreasonable TQ figure, I would agree that the numbers are off. But 206ft lbs is entirely realistic for a 3.0 with the mods as listed, so I can only believe that the HP rings true as well.

lol, We'll see what my car makes then, I have similar mods...except a stock MAF with +20 Cams.

Your going to get owned at both Brainerd and the drag strip, hope your ready!

Bring it!! (but not the bottle, you can leave it at home) Can't wait!!

Using the same divider that Marcel used (.82), this engine is putting out:

313hp/255ft lbs

As far as the dyno operator goes, I am pretty confident his results were legit. The shop builds some very serious Honda's. They have a 10 sec all motor civic, a 700whp S2000, and their turbo drag Civic's look very mean.

Honestly, with the way this thing idles, I would not be suprised for a second if it had aftermarket cams. Mike owned this car for so long, maybe he forgot he put cams in it back in the day! If I open the car up and see stock cams, I will be on the hunt for some Triflows!

Looking at it that way, the numbers do seem REAL high. This thing has to have more done to it than I am aware of. As far as the dyno operator goes, I am pretty confident his results were legit. Tim, that car was at a shop in NC getting some work done, I have confirmed that with multiple people in my Auto-X club. The shop is called " Sneeds Speed shop " in Winston Salem NC. Give them a call and see what they did with it. When I contacted them about the S/C car, they surely remembered it.

Also, The bottle is going, whether you like it or not so either figure something out or admit defeat now. :naughty:

Each dyno is calibrated differently. It's a tuning tool, and I only use it after I've street tuned to see the curve.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers, especially for a 3.0L. If I were a betting man I would say the car has some kind of cams in it. I think it would take a ported heads/cam combo to carry the torque far enough out to get the 255hp number. Even if the dyno was reading a little high (which it might be, 202ftlbs for a 3.0 seems slightly higher than I would expect), that is one healthy car you have there!!!

Though going back and looking at the mods, the HC pistons could account for the torque bump.

Tim, I remember you telling me when you were first going to pick the car up that it had a High Comp 3.2, Maybe just you just forgot the specs when you bought and sold 36 other SHO's in between getting this one.

I'd run a compression check on a cylinder or two... You'd get a pretty good idea of what compression it is.
