lol steve i just stumbled across the videos on youtube and didn't even read about it on here
nice video steve i actually like the sound for once :)

curious why you went with 2.5" and not 3"? seems like a dynomax the way to go

did you need to do anything for a cat sensor? think i'll get this done next year with a test pipe since the E-tests here are just an idle test for AWD

lol! Since I started the exhaust after the 2 small cat after the turbos, there is some tubing of about 2.25'' there at the beginning... I don't know that much, but I believe that if there is a restriction right from the begninning there is no need of putting bigger tubing. Also, since the turbos are really small, I didn't want to have to face any risk of overheating them... if that makes any sense. Finally, once again because I am not an expert, I relied on the guys that proposed me the setup.
Nothing was done for cat sensor for what I know...
I love the sound, but the low frequencies still might be a bit to loud for my taste... loud is good but not every notes is good.

Lol, Steve, your roads are about as good as ours here in Ont. --- was that a bridge you were going over or just regular potholes?
Exhaust sounds great from the outside, but I can see why you say it might be a little intrusive at times on the inside. One drawback of changing out the exhaust.-- one which most of us can live with tho I'm not sure about wifey.

haha, no worries on the mug shot......Bob and I are older and uglier by far.

Very funny!
It was a bridge... The orad where I filmed the launch is an isolate road (dead end) to make sure no cars were on my way... Still trying to make things safe. But these kind of roads are less maintained and with our winters, they become crappy very fast!
Glad you enjoyed the vids.

Sure did enjoy.....thanks.
Man it's hard to find decent secluded roads around here. Our local constabulary seem to be all over these days.

FWIW, I believe you did the right thing on buying 2 1/2" instead of 3" --- the larger would have cost too much torque. You need some restriction to keep the low end torque up.

Cheers, and g/l with the tranny check coming up.

Sounds NICE!

I had a bit of a problem getting a sound bite on mine... Had rear hatch open and wife lying on back mat with camera/sound. Unfortunately she fell out and broke the camera.

I really liked that camera.... DAMN....

its not that hard to film exhaust
you need one interior drive 0-60 and another interior cruise at 60-70mph for 20 seconds in top gear, a cold start then idle for 20 seconds with the camera about 2 meters from the rear or the side add a few engine revs, another shot of the car doing a 0-60 from the rear with a stationary camera and another drive by at 60mph and another WOT flyby all done and please avoid windy days

you can do the exterior exhaust attached drive with a mic on the outside if its a $300 Boom microphone with a giant wad of padding and hair from the back of a grizzly bear

Hey Steve hows that exhaust working for you? I really like the sound, and I am considering ordering dynomax's axle back system which uses the same mufflers. And maybe in the future deleting the third cat and installing a X pipe. The reason I ask, is I noticed a comment you made to BDP/Mike which made wonder if you are having a droning problem. I do realize my sound will be different since I am only replacing rear mufflers. Any advice would be appreciated.

I love the sound, it sounds really mean... At the red light, when I rev from 1K to 2.5K, the sound is amazing... The dynamax mufflers make the cool sound and we really hear the turbos. However, I do have a problem of droning in the cabin when the engine is in demand at around 1K until 2.5K. I am dosing the gas pedal to diminish that effect when riding with my wife (she doesn't appreciate the ride anymore, lol!), but there are times when I just can't do nothing and it is a bit annoying (when cruising and going uphill and the engine is forcing just enough not to shift down or just when I back up from driveway without touching the gas pedal, the sound is too loud/deep). I am seeking for some advice to know if a pair of cheery bombs like Nate (page 4) installed would **** that droning effect without affecting the nice mean sound that I want and without affecting the performances or I was told that maybe hushers exhausts is even better (quiet when you want and loud when needed)... I might go ahead with those hushers and the system should be optimal... unless someone else advise me otherwise.
All-in though I enjoy the car much better, but not sure when I will sell it (in a few years) that the next buyer would like that setup... so hushers should work for what I need.
Hope it answers your question.
Cheers!
Steve

On my 2 G8's, I used Dynamat sound mats to calm the sound down. I placed them completely around the interior of the trunk, including the wall between the seats & the trunk. Really helped keep the 2000 RPM harmonic issues to a minimum.

Haven't done any of this in the Brick.... yet. Guess I could line the floor from the rear seats back to the hatch, and also do the inside of the hatch & rear fender wells. But... considering the minimal range where it is noticeable (around 60 mph...) don't think it's worth the effort.

I went on their website and it seems to be quite expensive. I might stat with cherry bombs or hushers after the x-pipe to see if it reduces the unwanted droning to an acceptable level... That option will be between 100 and 300$ at most and I don-t need to do any of the job. I will probably do it in August, will keep you posted.
thanks

If you guys get dynamat, make sure and get the extreme stuff. It is quite a bit more pricey i believe, but its the only stuff in their lineup that uses a BUTYL rubber base, which will not get hot and run or let go over time... all the others will.

I've heard Rickls SHO with the corsa and it sounds great.
What did the butt dyno tell you? Any increase or just noise?
Cost about $1500? IYDMMA.

From what I have reading HP gains are minimal. But its does feel like its got a little extra pep. Cost was $1275 from auto part gear on ebay and was a very easy mod. From what I can tell these exhaust must have performance gains in them the track numbers don't lie. We'll see the next time I go to the track, and then hopefully I will have some numbers that I am not ashamed to post. Sound is great, my ride in Darrell's car sold me. The video's of the corsa exhaust don't do it justice. Its got a aggressive sound when you get on it, and purrs like a kitten when your cruising. On another note when I had the stock exhaust off of coarse I had to start the car and rev up some. Wow what a sound, you can really hear them turbo's then. Its got me thinking about some cut outs.

I didn't dynoed it after my custom exhaust, but went to the track 2 times since and I can tell you that I am getting better times and better trap speeds even if weather is warmer... About .1 and 1-2 mph with similar conditions is my guess from my experience. My best was 13.08 at 108.56 before exhaust (wind in the back) and now it is 12.98 at 106.1 (but I have been getting around 108 all night expect for 2 runs including my best ET) with no wind and temperature about 5 degrees higher.
In the fall, I hope to see under 12.8 when temperature will be in the 40's with favorable wind... ; ) With those conditions, my best was 13.1 at 107 without the CAI and the exhaust...

Thanks Crash......Price was good; I've seen them a little more than that at other places.
Cut outs would be neat.......I haven't done that on a car since my '68 Barracuda.

Track is where it's at -- better than dyno.
Can't wait for more 12 second runs. Conditions lately have been absolutely awful. Hot and humid -- ugg.
