Anyone ever have this happen before? I pulled everything off except the timing belt and everything looks ok but it was late and I wanted to get home so I couldn't examine everything. I just did the front 60k and replaced all timing components with new parts from SHO Source last month. This was my tenth 60k on a SHO and I never had this happen before. The belt actually started cutting into the covers

Did you replace the little metal "shim" that slides onto the crank pulley after the timing sprocket and before the harmonic balancer?

Yeah, that stupid washer not being there will cause exactly that symptom. I've done that before. It sucks.

It happens. There was a stretch at NESHO that every other car that came in for a front 60k, issues with how the engine ran, etc. turned out to be that washer installed backwards. Doing that shreds the belt, and clogs the crank sensor up with rubber debris.

Glad it was simple!

For the record I have never forgotten to install the washer or installed it backwards. Who is this maroon?

I didn't mean that we messed it up, I meant the cars came in that way. Oddly enough, three silver Gen 2s in a row.

You should know me better by now, Chris. I don't post about the stuff we **** up! :)
