As long as you make sure to keep the ground strap at the passenger's side rear in place, you can remove them with no problem.

Myself, I like them. Then again, I have the early style brackets with the open centers. The later ones with just an indentation in the center have always looked dumb to me.

I haven't had them in years. As stated, make sure the ground on the back is secure. I have a nut that takes up the space where the bracket used to be.

I'd leave them but polish them. A little bling looks good every once in a while. I'm sure they were added as an additional brace towards the outside edge of the plenums to keep the vibration from getting out of hand and relying on just those skinny little intake bolt to hold down a large plenum so far from the bolts. Too much leverage would allow vibrations to be accentuated. These supports are at the outside edge to give that large plenum another anchoring point.

If you take them off for looks, wont the remaining mounting places on the plenums look funny?

I ground those mounting points off of my project intake, along with all the EGR crap.

Without trimming them off, I think so. "What's that hole for?"

It's easy to put a hole in the front of the intake when trying to trim them off.

Oh, believe me, I know. Mine is paper thin in one of those spots. I stopped working on it when I realized that. I picked up some aluminum repair stuff (similar to JB Weld, I think), so I'm going to try that out as a filler.
