The short story is, we crashed into cars twice in 2 days and still managed a 6th place finish. 45 cars started so it wasn't the usual field of 120 at MSR Houston. Could have been that June is not the time to be in a hot race car with a firesuit and all in Houston.

About an hour and a half into the race this happens to me. Put your helmet on and tighten your belts, it's a rough ride children.

Since I hit the other car and it had more damage than ours I had to help the Miata get fixed. No biggie, we had lots of help from the 2 other SHOTIME teams ETL and Team Ziptie. Our car was back out in 65 minutes, with a missing left bumper(from the foglight all the way around the fender), crunched fender, bent strut, and new inner tierod. I think we were in 31st. The handling was a bit "interesting".

The Miata got another subframe from a junkyard. I helped pull the bent one out and install the good one. They went back out some 3 hours after the wreck, did maybe 10 laps and blew the motor. That's racing.

When the racing stopped at 7:30 Saturday we were in 9th. Then we got to see the crash video. That's when we realized that the Miata locked up the wheels for a yellow flag that I never saw. Neither did the 46 Sentra driver. He just moved over to let us faster guys pass. The way he stopped was like if there was a bulldozer in front of him. But there was nothing on the track ahead of us that required a yellow flag. No dead car, tow truck, debris, nothing.

We showed the video that night to a couple of the judges. The next morning we showed it to the T&S chief, the LeMons organisers, and another judge. They pretty much all agreed that the Miata braked a little too hard. My fault for following so close in a narrow part of the track. And the worst part is the Miata had 7 penalty laps because they won the last race at Eagles Canyon in April. We knew that because they were pitted next to us.

We raced without any more problems til the end on Sunday. With about an hour to go and only 2 laps out of 5th our driver was pushing hard. Then it happened again. 5 minutes to the checkers, car contact. The Supra was having tire vibrations and was told to stay out for the checkers. One of the rear tires blew in the turn just as we were going to pass him. His car moved over to the left right in front of us. Boom!

We finished 6th. Got the "I got screwed" award trophy for making us help fix the Miata when it wasn't all my fault. Drove the car home about 50 miles with some really lose steering.

ELT finished 7th, with fuel filter clogging problems, and a broke transmission, no 3rd, sometimes no 4th. Ziptie finished 15th, broken wheel bearing and fuel filter clogging problems. Both those teams used track fuel so not sure what was up with that. Seems like other teams should have had the same problem. Don't really know if any one did.

Holy shit. Anybody get that on video from outside the car?

As usual, good driving on your part kept a bad situation from being worse.

Wow that sucks guys, sorry to hear.

On another note I think a major part of why there are less cars going to LeMons is the organizers.

I have noticed chumpcar having more entrants and lemons having less this year.

Yes you are probably right. The Lemons penalty jump thru hoops system gets a bit old after a few races.

Heck, a year or so ago, one team showed up with a nicely paint E30 and the judges took a ball peen hammer to it because it looked too good. I've never seen them again.

Still waiting for the Miata in car video.....

would be super cool if actual car guys made a series similar and focused primarily on the texas races. There are more than enough people in the texas area to have a 3-4 class series with 10~ races a year and be profitable.

I wonder if LeMons broke even in houston with 40 cars? I have heard it costs about 15k a day to rent eagles canyon with insurance.

Glad to make you laugh. At least no one was hurt and we got going pretty quick.

Part of that one hand is because a SHO is easy to drive 10-10ths. You know that. The other part of that is because our PTT button was on the shifter. My team was not happy with me coming on to the front straight in front of the Miata. But they didn't see that got by him because of traffic not because I was racing him hard or dive bombing him. So they said to let him by and keep following him. They have a super fast Miata to pull on a SHO down the straight. $500 car my ass. On the top of their diff it says "Torsen 4.30" and all the bushings are blue TPR on the subframe and control arms. I saw them because I was under there helping.

Then he dynamites the brakes for a ghost yellow. Knowing I'm on his ass. His team radioed there was a late yellow at that **** flag station. Well damn, we were basically past the flag station.

When we got out of the cars he asks "why did you hit me?" I go, why did you stop?

That's racing.

My buddy has a Miata with a stock LSD and Bilstein shocks all around. However, super fast is something it's most certainly not.

At the last race, different track, we couldn't keep up with them either. The fact that their engine blew means it ain't stock. Put 2 and 2 together, out drags a SHO and engine blows= cheater motor.

One of our teammates has a 99 1.8L Miata and a SHO. The SHO walks the Miata like a dog in a straight line.

one of the reasons im begining to loathe lemons, every single person at eagles canyon knew they were cheating excessively and they still get 2 trophys

Cheating is part of racing. Especially LeMons. You deal with it or you race somewhere else.

What's funny is that the 24 Hours of Le Mans is this weekend, and when you start to type "24 hours of le..." Lemons comes up before Le Mans.

ChumpCar is a really good option for crapcan racing.

Everyone that races is cheating somehow. In Lemons too. But you have to limit your cheating so it's not so obvious.
