Hello everyone I have a 1994 SHO MTX with 145000 miles on it, I seem to have a problem with the rear end suspension whenever I go over a bump the rear end makes a clunking noise and both rear tires angle out alot always as do the front what could this be???

first off welcome. i would start by checking all the bushings and then tie rods then get alinment if everything is in order

it has new tie rod ends on it already and really only one of the front tires angle out bad, I was worried about the rear more it looks like its gonna collapse in!! I heard it could be the shocks????

its a very good posibilaty that a spring has busted also one of the rear control arms might be bent its posible that the po had it towed by some one that didnt have a clue and grabed one of the control arms

and fyi these have struts on all four corners.

not bad aslong as you can get the pinch bolts out. i recomend soaking them in some penitrating oil and some heat before id try to take them out

the clunk could be swaybar bushings, or strutmounts. But im thinking you have BAD SAS (saggy ass syndrome) causing alot of negitive camber. ????

this is very common and usually caused by bad strut mounts. the rubber goes, allowing the top of the strut to move inboard too far, resulting in the camber issues. when you go over bumps, metal parts hit each other, resulting in the clunk.

Should I replace the struts as well or just the top mounts??? Also does the front have the same mount issues?? I will check the sway bar stuff today and update asap... Good information guys thank you, keep it coming!!!!

when you do the mounts check the struts. if you can compress them fairly easy by hand then definitly replace them while they are out. there should be a good amount of force on them when trying to compress them, also if they are slow to return back up replace them

Replace the struts only if they leak or the rear bounce all over the place for 5 seconds afer taking a bump (Internally blown).

Those are the only reasons you change a strut on a daily driver.

The left rear control arm is bent up but the right side is good, looks like I have my work cut out for me!! I'll update again as things happen, once again great information guys thanks.
