That show had incredibly boring coverage of an otherwise, exciting race.

Yea, no kidding. I did see our Rally 'Rolla on there 3 times though and we were on the list of results after day one at 18th (finished 11th, but I think they only showed the top 10).

I think they finished 65th, completed 121 laps of 367.

It aint a $500 race car.

It's still one of, if not the cheapest way to race on nationally & internationally recognized road courses. I found the biggest cost is the personal safety equipment you need. If you already have a suit, helmet, shoes, neckbrace and gloves up to spec, then it's really not that bad.

It's basically a high upfront cost, but gets cheaper every additional race you do if you don't go crazy with your car.

The cage costs a bunch too. But its only one time, like the suit and helmet are.
