While driving home yesterday, I had the system set for driver, not on auto, set the temp to 60, and adjusted the fan on low. It was warm here and didn't need anything but some air.
A few minutes later I noticed I felt hot air. I reached over and the passenger front vents were blowing very very hot air. The air was so hot, I could smell it and they were almost too hot to touch! I turned the system off and back on, same thing. I pushed the auto button, same, plus was odd, it was blowing AC air on driver and the very hot air on passenger side. I then turned it on Dual and set them both to 60 with AC and made no difference on passenger side. The climate display on the screen showed normal and thought both was set to 60 with AC. I performed a 'system check' for what that's worth, and also did a health check, and nothing.
I ended up just turning it off and opening the windows.
After a stop at the store, when I got back in and started the car, everything was fine and it hasn't happened since. Guess the power cycle fixed it.
Anyone else experience this oddity?

I haven't had that happen... yet

I've had problems with my heater as of late. It only puts out warm air if I'm in motion (even if the car has been running). If I'm at a stop it pumps out cool air even if the heat is on 85degrees.

Sounds like you have a problem there. Either a bad thermostat, low coolant or something else. You should get it checked.

Mine is doing the same thing, I can drive it for 30 minutes and it still blows ice cold air even with the engine up to temp and it being cold out like 34 degrees F in auto with the temp set high 80+ and it is blowing a lot of air like it thinks it's doing a good job! I have to get the front grill replaced (dealer scratched it) so I was going to have them look into it then.

I just noticed mine doing the same thing. At idle it blows cold, even though the temp gauge reads hot! What was the solution to your problems SpAz?

Guys, the same thing with mine. I had another post about this. Haven't been to the dealership yet. It will throw out massive heat on defrost, but on auto, just warm at best and sometimes cold. At idle not as hot on defrost either.

I scheduled mine for a trip to Ford service. But, I also noticed some white residue on the garage floor near the front passenger wheel. Seems the coolant reservoir is a tad low, but not that much, maybe 1.5" at most. Sitting between "cold fill" marks when hot. And I think I can smell A/F after driving the car. So, must be a leak somewhere. Not sure it has lost enough to affect heat though.

Do you know if the dealer reset the HVAC controls or just checked for codes? Does your car have Nav or not?
