im sure 55 watt 6 or 5k's will light up the road enough

So white, multispectral light is what our eyes pick up best... so... you have HIDs that filter out everything but the blue light, which scatters the most and causes the most glare, then they go through what's basically a neutral density filter to reduce the amplitude of that light even further...

no I only use my headlight covers as actual covers. I put them on when I know Im going on long trips especially on the highway or if Im going to a show or want to show off my car to a couple friends. I am doing this because I bought new OEM headlights and clear corners and want to keep them looking nice. I don't use them at night at all.

and personally IMO I only think blacking out looks good on black cars.

Holy crap... Zach, I know that looks are very important to you, and I understand that blue light looks better with a blue car... but seriously, there is barely any more light than gets trough a 15 year old SHO headlamp housing in that picture. I should be completely blinded by the light bouncing off that bike. But I don't even have to squint. It's so dim that the little cellphone camera should've registered a large white/blue blob. But it's barely lighting the whole bike up.

That's bad juju, man. I would not call that a safe amount of light, and what light there is, is just blinding other drivers.

The only way to make enough light with the covers on, are to step up your fogs to a 24volt setup. Those are the only "driving lights" that will give you any sort of decent light. I had those covers back in 2000, and doing anything to the headlights to help the light situation, is just a lost cause.


IIRC... I had 130 Watt H3's installed into an aftermarket set of actual "driving lights". But in doing so, you have to kinda make your own harness, and find your own relays that will handle the extra juice.

That being said... you still only get extra light right on the road.. not so much to see what, or who might be standing in the road...
