I'm on it; manual only gives a part number of 6571.

went to fordpartsnetwork.com, drilled down, only got 6571 there too, but they sell them. They appear to be the same seals that a number of older Mustangs use.

Intake is E9DZ 6571 A, exhaust is E9DZ 6571 B. Unique to the 3.0L and 3.2L SHO as far as I can tell.

cheers

The only reason I said it looked like it belonged to mustangs as well is because I googled "Valve stem seal 6571". You google it too and tell me what the **** I'm looking at... cos it didn't really make much sense to me.

It looks to me like the 6571 is mostly a way of indicating that it is a valve stem seal.

E9 is '89 Model year

D is Taurus

Yup, 6571 is the basic number for a valve stem seal on any application, the prefix and suffix indicate the year and model application.

Sorry, I could have mentioned that ... both numbers are long obsolete from Ford, they don't even show as valid numbers in the Canadian ordering system any more.

I'm sure there are in the U.S. ... none up here in Soviet Canuckistan though. ;)

The Ford Canada system doesn't let me access U.S. dealers for a search either unfortunately, only Canadian dealers and the U.S. warehouses.

We never used to be able to even see the U.S. warehouse stock until about 5 years ago, that was even worse!! There was only a yes or no indicator as to whether or not the part might be stocked in the U.S. :nut:

cheers
