Tell ya what....drive into the Loop in Chicago at 5:00 PM.

That willl give you an idea of what the Tail of the Dragon is like. Except at the TOTD, you have to watch for the cops who need revenue.

Way over-rated, and a PITA. Move on, there's nothing to see there nowadays.

I thoroughly enjoyed ToD, and saw maybe 6-10 vehicles the entire run both ways. One of those vehicles was in a ditch, the rider sitting with a broken collarbone. I am sure there are times when it is crazy busy (and granted, this was 10 years ago), but at the time I went, it was desolate, and beautiful. That said, there are many many many great roads in the area, that will usually have less traffic.

Are there generally caravan's from far away states? I'm in central Ohio and would love to cruise with some fellow enthusiasts. Lexington is only about 3 hours away from me, so I could meet up there for sure.

When/where is it?

Yes, there will be caravans from a number of different areas. I will probably be in one that will be using I-40 (OK, AR, TN, NC)
