Snap! Vac line broke- replacement? (and unrelated Crunch)

Hey, all-

Working on my wife's '97, I managed to snap the plastic vacuum line that goes into the back of the intake surge tank, sort of over by the EGR valve. I'm suspecting it was already partly broken from my earlier removal of the intake while replacing the alternator. Does anybody know:

Could this be the cause of P0401 and P0411 OBD2 codes?

What does this line connect to?
It appears to go into a "Y" fitting, with one line leading to a manifold block on the firewall, and the other going into a loom to...?

Since the plastic in these lines has become brittle, I'd like to replace all the lines and the manifold block if I can... Anybody have a P/N?


Oh, and the unrelated crunch? My 4-year old son wanted to "help", so I let him press the buttons on the scan tool. The car was parked under a car port, and he had gotten in from the back and climbed over the console. When he got out, he decided to open the passenger front door- right into the metal I-beam holding teh carport roof. Now my wife's car has one more dent...

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help on this one. Now I'm off to the parts store to get a coil, since I also have been getting a miss and popped a code P0306. At least it's the front bank this time.

you should be fine useing regular vacume hose iirc you can also get windshield washer line witch is the plastic crap.
i belive the 401 and 411 are egr related codes and there is a very good posibility the new lines will cure those
the 306 is a misfie on cyl6. i would check the boot and plug on cyl 6 before getting the coil

Well, fixed the vacuum stuff with generic T-fitting and ends from the "Help" section, plus some soft vacuum tubing. Ran better, but still had the miss, so I replaced the coil on cyl. 6, and now she's running great, no codes or hesitation. I still don't like the rest of the vacuum lines being brittle- I'll be sure to look at replacing the whole setup the next time I have the manifold off.

I'm seriuosly thinking of some track day participation soon with the green car once I get a house. It's FUN on corners.

Oh, yeah, my wife's '97 passed the AZ emmissions inspection on the first try after I fixed the vacuum stuff and the coil. Now I just have to figure out which of the approx. 6 million moving boxes I hid the title in, and I can get the AZ tags!

I was actually a little dissapointed- they didn't even do the exhaust gas measurement, just the OBDII scan and the gas cap pressure test. I kind of wanted to know what the numbers were.

I'm gonna try to tune up my '75 F-150 this weekend and take a crack at it on Monday with that.

we just got rid of those test up here last year. and dont worry if your test are like ours were you will have to do the exhaust calibration next year

good luck with the truck. it shouldn't be too bad. it seems like it runs healthy. if my truck passes yours should. it's fun to watch the emissions attendants pull the green one on the dyno and chirp the tires in first gear.

I miss slamming that car around corners, but just a thought Josh, I would probably go ahead and rotate the rear tires up front and replace that LF tire, the non matching kuhmo. I called my guy @ discount to see if i could get you one for cheap (like 50 bucks) and he no longer works there, so sorry i couldn't get you one last cheap tire to match the rest.

Glad you like the car so much... i'm going through Green one withdrawls... if you ever sell that car call me first!
