Finally somebody said it.

$2,000 for a cold air kit and a tune seems absurd. What am I missing?

List price for a product that supposedly has some extra $$$ added for a "name". Not like this isn't done for a lot of other stuff on the market (think "iPad" in the recent news).

It's a List Price. Give it time, distributors will discount.

$450 is your opinion. Pics have shown it to be a nice piece. Sometimes quality trumps a price point. Some of us will spend the extra $$$ for a Ruth's Cris or Capital Grill filet over Ponderosa.

If the tune is included then $450 would seemingly be a little low...but $2,000!?

There is something everyone is forgetting about.. you do get a warranty from Hennessey.. cant say that about any other tuners I know of. Yes you do pay more but if something fails it might be worth it.

IIRC The warranty is on the parts that he supplies, not on anything else, i.e. if your motor blows etc.

Many of the light to mid-range Gen 2 mods cost about $37/hp. 60hp x $37 = $2,200.

They charge what they know the market will support (and they probably know SHOwners are used to paying a lot). I agree it's a severe overcharge for the CONTENTS, but it's 60hp, and the car has less than a year on the street. Not to mention they are used to dealing people that drive their $50k toys straight from the dealer so they can plunk down another $20k to ensure their toy is faster than anything else that rolls off the lot that year.

The kit is probably a poor-man's mod for them, more of a tool to get you in the door and interested in more expensive things (that will surely come).

After many posts That have not seen the light of Day I am not visiting this site again. Many of the Posts were related to SHO performance package suspension being the same as 402A. Maybe the Forum Police did not want this to be public knowledge.

your name sayss a lot, sounds like you are on the rag!

Pics of the product itself............ very sharp. I agree w/ others, 'bout time the engine compartment gets a boost in the aesthetics department.

HP improvements seem pretty decent as well. $2K's a lil steep for what's being offered overall, but also as previously stated, I'm sure distributors will be ratcheting that down just a lil bit.

Thanks for the post, pics, and write up. Great contribution indeed! :thumb:

Theres a 12 sec. 2010 on ebay and been getting info from the seller; when asked about upgrades, he replied.

kenne bell 40 amp boost a pump, sct x3 tuner wth custom beefcake / terry reeves tune by ken bjennes at Modular Depot, and custom k&n filter
I used Terry's tuning from Modular Depot, as his car was the first to hit 12 seconds, then I bought the Hennessey maxboost 445 package, and it was slower than Terry's tune......after 3500 plus labor

Torrie's a great guy has been of great assistance to the SHO community for many years. Although he now puts out what appears to be a great preliminary tune for the 2010 SHO, I wouldn't put him at the top of the Ford tuners list, especially for SHOs. There's folks out there, like Doug Lewis and others, who have been doing tunes for Gen 1-2-3 SHOs for years.

The 2010 SHO is not a Gen 1 2 or 3. It's a completely different animal.

They have absolutely nothing in common except the word " Ford " & " SHO " !

Whats your point ? Theres still no comparsion !

NUF SAID !

Topcat55:neverlearn:

I'll play "Mr. Obvious".....

Folks experienced with Ford tuning and the tuning packages are FAR better at figuring it out than some ******* who worked on carb motors or Chevies up until last week.

I wouldn't trust Hennessey with the time of day. Other SHO tuners will figure it out way before all the other useless idiots out there with a dime to buy a tuner.

Yes, Topcat55, some ********* will never learn. Try looking in a mirror.
