I'll be needing rotors soon and thought the ROYALTY rotors would be a nice upgrade.

Whatcha think? Anybody have any advice?

Thanks!

I run some random ebay drilled and slotted '96 rotors on my '93 ATX, it's been 4 years or so and they have yet to crack even with spirited driving. On my' 95 MTX I run drilled and slotted 13" cobras, and even after a track day they are fine.

Plus they're probably 2% lighter than solid rotors. :)

Well, my '90's brakes are still all stock. I want to make sure I can just get the rotors and some nice pads and go.

I don't do any kind of racing being that this is my DD. I just like to upgrade when things need to be replaced.

The second set has been fine.

i have slotted cryogenically frozen rotors with hawk + pads and sss lines. works acceptable, since they are 1992 original size, i have the 95 knuckles and new bearings are going in next week then the 96 upgrade. Oh yeah, I was told my Stainless steel lines will work with the 96 upgrade???

What do you think, i'm probally going with EBC rotors and their yellow stuff or Hawk + pads...

After the way you drove on Sunday, :3gears: I'm surprised it too you this long to post about a brake upgrade.

We need to get your shifter taken care of soon as well.

Yeah, the brakes are squeaking a little now. I don't understand why........I ran the SHO easy, remember?

The shifter is a MUST, although I'm proud of my cable shifter! That thing is held on with ZIP TIES!!

Let me know if you want a hand with that intake.

If that was running it easy, I don't want to see you run it all out.

Zip ties? Now I'm really impressed you didn't break anything.

Just gimme a call and we'll set something up to get that intake off.

Your money would be better spent on a 96 upgrade with blank rotors and decent pads.
Combine that with some fresh Wilwood,ATE blue, ext. brake fluid and you will have plenty of brakes for
a track setup like Gainsville.
Ive had one set of cross drilled on a former car, they cracked.
Another thing to remember is they can not be machined.

please explain.
:munch:

Its got an 11.6 upgrade and drilled and slotted rotors. I noticed i have much better pedal feel probably due to the new pads more than anything. They definitely have more bite and the car has no problems slowing down from 85mph+ (thanks matt for that one lol). The rotors that were on my car previous were pretty well glazed. Also after countless thrashing on back roads there was no pedal fade. Although i think my next set of rotors may be strictly slotted. I picked these up used for free!! (thanks again matt) He used them for awhile and so far they have not cracked. I wish i knew the brand though.

So how much better are they than plain rotors? BTW, pads don't affect pedal feel, and stock brakes have no problem slowing down from 85+ mph either.

I had a set of cross drilled on my 92 and went through an entire set of pads (lots of miles) with no problems. These were 10.2 rotors and even did some Auot-Xing. They were custom done by a small shop. I currently have cross drilled rotors that came wit hthe Cobra Claipers I got and still not problems.

A lot of it comes down to quality. If they are porrrly done then they wont last.

Good luck of rht e96 you can only get Green Stuff or Hawk HPS.

Now with with Cobra calipers you have a larger selection.

ALOT better and pads will effect pedal feel depending on the compound of the pad. If its an organic pad it will feel spongier then say a semi metallic. This is because of the heat transfer. Ceramic and organic do not transfer heat well and therefore will fade or get spongier over time which will make your pedal feel soft. Semi metallic transfers heat better therefore the pedal will not get spongy as quickly.
