A couple of days ago with my newly acquired 93 ATX with 143K on the clock and the windows steamed up like a frickin steam room. It was about 25* outside at the time. It took a good 20-25 minutes to get all the windows cleared. I did end up with a few shots of water on the passenger seat. The passenger door seems far from airtight. The Carfax claims it to be accident free.
Could it be bad weatherstripping?

Thanks in advance, Chip :salute:

Yes, it usually has wind noise as well. How is the ring / gasket around the sunroof?

Yeah, most likely just bad weather stripping. Its also likely the door is a bit out of whack, happens with age, weight of the door on the hinge, people pushing down on it, slamming, prying it open to try to get a coathanger in to unlock it etc... Im sure rockauto has our weather stripping. With 143k get the whole set, replace all the doors and the trunk and forget about it.

Before you buy a new door gasket, look at the one you have. They tend to shrink over time, and get shorter. Due to the way they attach, as they shrink they tend to pull away from the top rear corner of the door, or occasionally from the top front of the door - right by the windshield. If this is all that is wrong, you can fix rather than replace the gasket. You need to loosen the door threshhold molding and lift the gasket off the bottom of the door, then reattach it properly at the top of the door and work it back down to the bottom. They may shrink enough to leave a short gap at the bottom where the ends join, but I've never had one leak there.

Mine has wind noise like **** around the driver's A pillar/dash/door area. Sounds like a similar issue.

If the sunroof (sorry, moon roof) has wind noise, or is leaking, or the gasket is falling down out of it, you can get a new gasket at sunroofdoctor.com. You get it, and a big tube of sealant for the end, and you are good.

btw, the moonroof seals all leak. There is a pair of large water channels at the front corners of the moonroof to carry the leakage water away, down the A pillar. If those tubes get plugged with crap (dead leaves, bugs, etc.) then the water won't drain down those tubes and that is when you have leakage inside the cabin.

They all leak, the seal makes no claim to stop the water (except in a car wash situation), but they don't all make a lot of noise. Mine developed an annoying howl and I had to close the screen that covers it, to not be bothered. The new seal made it quiet again.

Yar, those moonroof seals are only meant to slow the water down enough for the drain tubes to get rid of it. And those drain tubes will get clogged with leaves, gunk, etc.

A) thanks for the comment about the moonroof-- most people don't know the difference.

B) yes, check to make sure things aren't clogged. Although...in Sam's car...the drain tube on the passenger's side leads straight back into the car. And floods the passenger's side. My...uh...I mean....the passenger's feet get wet. It's cold.

This is because everything was taken out and some things modified though...your car should not be like that. :)

A) Ya velcome!

B) There's a joke about "cold feet" in there somewhere. :theyareontome:

Nice find, thanks for the website info! Now, if we could find lifter arms, my rattling would be gone....

There are no rules defining that; it's up to the individual vehicle. The only defining characteristic is opacity.
