You can't see the tailpipes, but there may be a spoiler there. Even pausing it in several spots, you can't say for sure whether there is a spoiler.

Sho or Limited. It really makes no difference.

The car is totaled and even if it was fixable, I wouldn't want it back. Quite honestly, I don't care how much damage is done even at low impacts . What I care about is that we can walk away from it unscathed.

You're right 2010sho. But, for those who care, it's not an SHO. Good catch SHObill, it's a single exhaust.

It's funny reading your comments above. You look at this and think wow 35mph, and the car is totaled. I look at it and think, wow 35mph and the passenger compartment is so incredibly solid that there is vertually no *********** in there at all. The crumple zones work perfectly, and the cabin structure is again, solid. When your family of four is taking a drive to grandma's, would you really prefer a "less damaged" car than a safe one?

Honestly that passenger compartment didn't really flex that much at all. Looks very solid to me. You shoulda seen my 91 hit a van at 50. ;) Impossible to tell it was a Ford, let alone a Taurus... maybe the fiberglass shredded hood gave it away.. :)

the old cars made of metal :p

Tell me which "made of metal" car you'd prefer to be in. :)

"The driver in the Bel Air, its engineers concluded, would be in sorry shape. The car lacked seat belts, let alone air bags, allowing the driver to strike the unforgiving steering column, unpadded dashboard and roof.
highway safety then and now

The passenger compartment collapsed, crushing the crash dummy's legs. The seat was torn from the floor. The windshield popped out and the doors opened, possibly allowing the driver to be ejected.

On the other hand, the driver of the Malibu might have sustained an injury to his left foot, analysis of test data showed, but otherwise emerged unscathed.

Contrary to Internet suspicions, the IIHS assures us that the antique Chevy wasn't a ringer: There is indeed an engine in the car, and the red cloud of dust that shows during the slow-motion replays isn't rust, merely 50 years of road grime."

Looks like front structure def did it's job. Ford now designs kinks in the rails for crash triggers that make the rails bend in ways they want to absorb more energy and keep the passanger compartment intact.

I can confirm that it is an SEL BTW because of the wheels.

I look at it and think...how many people accelerate into a wall? I would think results would differ if it was braking down to 35mph, instead of accelerating at the wall. But agreed, the passengers/driver are going to get out of it unkilled.

Think of it like this.... 35 mph is the equivilant (sp) of jumping from a 3 story building. Landing on a dashboard and windshield if you don't have a belt. :) Who care's if the car is totaled. My 91 Plus was smashed all to **** and back. I even cracked a big chunk out of the front peice of the intake I hit the guy so hard. But I walked away, signed my refusal and went home with a headache. You can always get another car.. can't pickup another brother, sister, friend... ;)

Holy shit, the DASH in that 1959 Chebby came up and essentially took the dummy's head off  And yet, the dash in the 2009 Malibu didn't move at all.

If there's ever a case to be made for modern crash survivability, that's it right there.
