Well, been reading reviews of the new 2010 SHO. So far all the car magazines like or love the new SHO, except the brakes. I guess this will be the first upgrade on them. I love FORD, but wonder sometimes about them. I love the slotted rotors on my SHO, they should work wonderful on the new one.

What reviews have you been reading? At most I would say they liked the SHO, but not a single review came across as being in love. Bad trans electronics, poor paddle shifter arrangement, huge weight, large exterior that makes it look like an SUV.......They all say its a decently nice car, but nothing more.

And slotted rotors do nothing. It decreases the heat sink that is the rotor, supposedly cuts pads faster, and sacrifices rotor integrity. A brake upgrade (calipers, larger rotors and better pads) will be needed for those expecting to drive it hard.

I do like the new SHO, and think it could be a great certified used car to pick up in 2-3 years for 1/2 price.

I still don't understand how on earth they are saying the trans has "Bad Electronics". Shifts with the Paddle shifters are Quick and Firm at WOT.

Drove the new SHO at the convention. It was a great car. Maybe a little big but from the drivers seat you'd never know it. As far as the paddle shifter goes it works great. On the track this car will be a star. Next year by far these will be the quickest cars on the track. A lot of modified SHO owners will be surprised to see these cars passing them on the track. Drive one it will make a believer out of you.

That would be suprising to see a 1500lb heavier and 50% less powerful car passing me on the track, but if Kirk is driving it, anything can happen!

I'm also pretty sure Kirk and others are all over this.

I just sent am email to Stoptech; their packages are the holy grail for road racers; much better when compared to Baer, Brembo, Alcon, Wilwood. Have no idea what $'s are but will find out what they can supply.

What makes Stop-Tech so much better? Are you sure it's just not another new, Crazy Priced Brake-Kit that is the "Holy Grail" of brakes just because its "new"?

I have not driven one, so I can not comment from for myself, only repeat what I have read.

The paddle shifter style is the same as BMW uses on the 335, as well as porsche I believe........In each car they too were slammed for using this style of paddle instead of the VW/Audi like left downshift, right upshift style.

Its personal preference. I prefer the left down, right up style.

I thought it was a bit quirky myself as well but it's not anything to slam a car about. You get used to it with in the first 5 Miles and don't even notice. Magazine editors are worse then SHOforum members who don't think this new SHO is a "SHO". They are nit-picky sandy ******'s.

The new SHO is a bad ass car and I love it. With that said, Would I own one? Nope.

I agree, the SHO is a very cool car that I have zero interest in owning.

I do see it being a fantastic buy in the certified used market though. 3 years old at 1/2 price would make a very compelling car.

But would you really consider this car in three years at half price or would you rather a 2010 Audi A6 3.0t supercharged for 1/2 price? I've made my pick.

lol, making it ******* me huh....it is pretty hard to be a member here and completely disagree with the new SHO. I have taken a lot of crap for being overly critical of the new SHO. However I do stand by my beliefs. I do not think the new SHO is Fords best effort. Its a decent car, but nothing more. However there aren't very many people here that respect that opinion. Most seem to love the new SHO despite the obvious shortcomings and are not very accepting of the opposite view. I am a die hard SHO fan, owned 2 Gen 2's, have spent over 15k+ on them and countless hours of mods and maint. Most don't see that, they just see a guy with 400 posts ripping on the new SHO.

After owning a series of Audi's and VW's I have found out that they are exactly what I love about cars. I will never buy the new SHO, ever. There are much better cars out there for me such as a slew of Audi's, VW's and BMW's. All S4's, All S6's, the A6 4.2 and 3.0T, A3 2.0TQ etc. However being a HUGE car enthusiast I respect all cars and like the new SHO because it hopefully symbolizes the starting point of Ford's comeback into performance sedans.

I would have loved to see how the new SHO would have fared in the latest 50K sport sedans that everyone here seems to think the SHO competes with. If the completely new E class came in dead last, do you honestly think a fast Ford sedan would have placed any better?

I have started to sugar coat my responses because people on here don't seem to take too kindly to my riping.

:munch:

PS: I never said I would buy one used for 1/2 price. I just said it makes a much better argument for itself in that context.

per the info from a brake supplier I've bought other racing gear from:

Here's a breakdown of what the Nextel Cup teams ran at Infineon in June:

AP Racing 30
Alcon 0
Brembo 11
PFC 3
Raybestos 3
Wilwood 0
StopTech 0

Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart used AP Racing's large "DTM" caliper. They finished first and second. Marcos Ambrose and Jimmy Johnson used them as well so that they were on the first through fourth finishers.

This past weekend at Watkins Glen, 31 out of 43 cars ran the fairly newish "DTM" spec AP Racing caliper (including Tony Stewart and Marcos Ambrose in 1st and 2nd).

And 22 teams ran the Wilwood "A" pad at the glen, I used to run that pad on my 89 in the early 2000's and it is still the best I have ever used! It's amazing to me, that as fast as technology moves, that compound is still being used at the highest levels of motorsport.

Back in Michigan ... again.
I know there are people who think I'm crazy or biased, but having just spent a fair amount of time in a new A6 (http://www.nextautos.com/buyers-guide-2009-audi-a6-30t-quattro and no I didn't write the review) I prefer the new SHO to just about everything over the Audi, including interior, fit/finish, straight-line and cornering performance. If anything the SHO is even quieter than the Audi, (which is actually one of the few things I prefer over the SHO, though I think having that quiet of a car says a LOT about the quality of this new SHO when compared to the German competition.) And the SHO does it for a lot less.

That said, the Audi has more legroom in the back, and I like the overall styling a bit better. Less chunky looking.

I know there are a ton of people who can't fathom a domestic manufacturer building a car that competes with upscale Germans, but to the non-believers, let me just say this again: See this car in person and drive it. You'll be quite surprised at what you find.

I agree; a friend of mine just traded in his Phaeton (nice car, but total lemon) on an A6 V8 and the ride quality is not that good; a bit rough and choppy.
