Okay. In trying to piece together an exhaust system for a '95 MTX, it appears that the rear section (aft of the resonator to the tips) were different between the MTX and ATX.
The OEM exhaust system aft of the y-pipe consists of two pieces. The first is the mounting ****** for the y-pipe to the resonator. The second is the remaining exhaust aft of the resonator to include the mufflers and tips. And the slip joint in the several SHO exhaust systems I've seen/messed with confirm this.
From my memory of looking at both setups, I think it has to do with the length of exhaust pipe from the slip-fit joint for/aft of the resonator, to the first bend in the pipe aft of the body hanger under the rear drivers-side seat.
