I feel your pain... Do you have "issues" at the moment?
Any chance you'll be able to make it over this summer?
Issues! Have I ever.
Last fall I had to buy new rubber because of uneven wear. Took it in for an alignment and they simply could not align the left rear. Bent spindle.
I tried to think what could be the cause and then I recalled that when I was still in Gold River that my left rear strut froze on very cold days and it was like driving a brick. Every bump was a "BANG".
So I picked up a used spindle and when I tried to take the old one off, both bolts to the control arms broke right off. I guess they hadn't been off since new in 1995?
No problem, ordered up some new ones. Then taking out the ABS sensor, I broke that. So I ordered an old one from Mike at SHOSource. And as a fall back I also got two used Tokicos from him as well. Just in case my left rear is shot too.
And a set of Ingalls control arms to make things easier....
Then as I'm standing up after working on the spindle, I grabbed the Eibach to assist my ancient bones in standing up and it wobbled! So I take a look and sure enough, it's broken too! Last year I replaced the right rear Eibach, both have broken on me in 4 years.
So now I'm waiting for Mike and Kurt to ship the stuff my way. Mike got a warranty spring from Eibach for me. And I can't wait till June to avoid duty, etc so I'll pay a lot more than if I lived over there on the mainland.
Plus I won't be able to replace the spring or strut myself so I'll put everything back together and limp to my mechanic so he can do it. For a fee of course. Then over to the tire shop for an alignment.....
And then there's the noise I have in my clutch since Mike put my Quaife in. Not always there and never in reverse. But in first gear it sounds like a speedo cable is bent. But it isn't the speedo cable and the noise goes away after you are moving. Only as you release the clutch to drive away does it make the noise. Never shifting into second or third.
That one scares me as dropping the tranny is an expensive job. And I'm pretty sure the noise is hard to find anyway. But you can hear it externally and internally. Embarrassing noise it is at a stop light.
It's a good thing we have the 1991 TBird SuperCoupe we picked up for me to drive right now Or I'd be hooped.
As to getting over to the mailand, not sure. Have to fix Bull first. I hate travelling any distance in anything else. And my lovely company just reduced everybody's salary by 10%. So my disposable income is not very high right now. We shall see.....
