OK, so where can I get this anearobic sealant for the halfshaft seals? The guys at aotozone looked at me like I was crazy. And why can't I just use RTV?

Permatex Hylomar is good stuff and you should be able to find it at your local auto parts store.

RTV is bad news for the tranny. Small amounts of it can get into the small passages that lubricate the bearings and interworkings of the tranny and stop them up. Not good at all.

and yes, I had the guys at Autozone look at me before like I was crazy ...

The last time I had to use some, I ordered it online at one of the auto places ... maybe even autozone and had it dropped shipped to the store.

Permatex Hylomar or Loctite 510 anerobic ****** sealant are the best materials for sealing the transaxle case halves.

The halfshaft seals have a sealing material bonded to their ******. I've never used any additional sealant. I wipe the case bore and the outside of the seal with a bit of ATF and drive them home with a short hunk of 4 X 4 and a mallet.

Don't use RTV for anything related to sealing the tranny.
