Ok.. so my car is getting dropped off here in about an hour, and I'm ready to start tearing into this "rod bearing" thing to verify it. Without tearing the pan off and all that jazz.. I just want to verify that the motor is "siezed".

If I jack it up, and put the thing in neutral, should I be able to turn the crank over like in an MTX? I've never owned an ATX.. didn't have one in the 91, or the 92... ;)

Anyway.. this car has 110k on it, I am just seriously doubting the RB thing.. anyway, I'll be looking into this thing a little bit, can't do too much here, or the "management" here will get pissy with me.

You don't have to put the tranny in neutral, you can leave it in park. The torque converter will turn regardless of the shifter position.

Eric, that TOTALLY looks like either a chain from the top car was rubbing, or the frame hit it. He may have lowered the top too much. I've never hauled cars, but I recognize that kind of damage.

Eric,

Any damages to the car should have been noted & documented before they loaded the car onto the hauler. That's standard policy. They go over the car with a fine toothed comb too, noting any damage to the body or paint. It looks like the damage happened prior to them driving through the salty roads because it appears to be covered with a layer of salt.

I'd suggest not washing the car until someone from the hauling company comes and looks at the damage for themselves.

How big is it?

Size of a quarter.... they are located in Sacramento... sooo I dunno, I guess I'll call them and see, I just know they are going to try to blow it off...

The guy they picked it up from was asleep by the time he arrived to pick it up, so there was nothing noted, but the driver wrote 'dents and scratches everywhere' soo... I'm thinkin he did that after the fact, or maybe he just didnt notice it...

There was a dull spot I already knew of, and the bumper cover is cracked, but I already knew that... I have the thing scanned, but its a pdf, and I dont know how to conver that to a jpg.

That sure looks like fresh paint damage to me. When they unloaded it, didn't they have you check it out for damage before you signed for it??? That is SOP.

The back of the truck is the worst place for getting dirty.....

You don't even have to jack it up to turn the engine over, just get a wrench on the crankshaft bolt and turn away. My suggestion is to always rotate it the correct direction - clockwise.....

Well, it was up on the truck so it was just about eye height, so I didnt notice it then.... the car was on and off a few times between here and there.. he made at least 3 stops.. so i know it got to move a few times.

Nice car!!

Almost wish mine was black now.

As far as the washing thing... as suggested have the damage inspected before washing it... but when you do wash it you might be better off with a light rinse followed by pressure washing it.

washing it by hand is not recommended until its had a good rinse.. that salt is abrasive as #@$& and will eventually destroy your clear coat if your rub it.

That's not standard shipping policy. When my 91 was picked up they wouldn't take it unless I was there to personally sign the shipping papers. Unless the document was signed by the original owner, I don't think that what he gave you is valid. If they deviated from standard policy, that's not your problem. "Dents and scratches" doesn't describe the gouge that I see.

Don't take that laying down dude, I don't care where the company is located. It's covered under the insurance that they carry. They'll just have to send someone out to look at it and if they don't think it's worth the cost then they should just cut you a check. Get your own estimates as well.

If you send me the PDF I can convert it to JPG.

Edit: If you wash it any of the car, you're washing away all your evidence.

Damn that sucks they scratched your car all up. That was one of the major concerns when I was looking to buy a SHO. I wanted to buy one close enough that I could rent a car one-way and drive the SHO home; that's exactly what I did. (Boy was I nervous the whole way home thinking it'd leave me stranded and it didn't.)I've heard so many horror stories about transport trucks.

I hope they get it fixed for you. I agree on the not washing it. Call them and make them get someone out there ASAP and look at it
