Tonight my friend was following behind me, and this 01 Lightning and I were *cough* racing *cough* :D . Anyways I started from a roll, and my friend said when I shifted from 2 to 3 a puff of black smoke came out of my exhaust :( . He said it mainly came out of the drivers side tailpipe... But since I got the car I noticed that whenever I start it, the exhaust smells kind of gassy like it is running rich. Could these problems be related, and could they have anything to do with my O2 sensors. I don't know too much about cars, so that is sort of a guess/wishful thinking. BTW, I got the car at 77,9** miles and it now has 88,4**. The previous owner said to his knowledge the 60K had NOT been done. I would have it done but I don't have funds right now. Thanks in advance for any answers.

EDIT: sorry admin I posted this in the wrong place, would you be so kind as to move it. :)

Yah that's not really abnormal

My SHO smelled pretty gassy too when it was running... Check the inside of your tailpipes, if they're really black you might want to consider replacing the 02 sensors. If you haven't taken up in the RPM's much before that little spring with the Lightning there can be a fair amount of carbon buildup in the exhaust too and it comes out under some harder driving.

So long as the smoke's not blue! or white! :D

:D *breathes sigh of relief* Thanks for the info, the tips of me pipes are quite black.. and by the way, I didn't fare to bad against the Lightning from 40- to about 70... I don't know if he was getting on it all the way but I could definetly here his supercharger. I stop and talked to him, and he said that I could take the truck home for a low low price of 28,000 eek! .

I would change the o2 sensors as well. They are due for replacement at 60K anyway. Just don't forget to disconnect the battery afterwards to reset the ECU.
PS
Your sho is leaking something in that picture of yours

:D Nah it's not leaking.. I just took some pics after I got done washing it, and the driveway was still wet... I would be really concerned if it was gushing fluid like that. eek!
