Well folks, this is what both of the rear window lift motors in my '94 SHO looked like. After the switches tested out fine I pulled the motors and I found they were all corroded and siezed up. Nasty, huh?

The good news, I guess, is that I was able to salvage one of the motors by taking it apart and cleaning it with solvent and compressed air, freeing it up with some penetrating oil, and then applying a little white lithium grease to the gears before putting it back together. Not a very difficult job at all, just took a little time.

Rust is bad, but does this have any relevance to the engine and driveline? doh

Oops! doh

Well, I'm sure the powers-that-be will be booting this thread into the right forum soon enough... hail

And yes, rust is bad ...so let's hope there's none going on when I go to replace my Subframe Bushings! :D

(Oops...the SFB subject doesn't belong here either! lol ).

My rear window motors looked the same with all that rust. I just replaced them with lower mileage versions and kept the old ones around for emergency spares.

Alex, the inside of your doors, where the motor is mounted to the bracket, probably looked like this, right?

I ended up cleaning the bracket with solvent and a rag, and then I used a wire brush bit on a drill to get the rest of the rust off. Nice and clean now. wink
