Why the ECSTA Supra 712? Everyone I talked to hated this tire.

Kumho makes the MX in the size your looking at and Tirerack has them for $163.

I loved the 712's. I have never used them on the SHO, but another car I used to have had them, and They were extremely grippy. Not sure about durabitliy, though. But the price was awesome when I bought them.

Try www.discountiredirect.com for the Kumos. They are about 104.00 there and no shipping. Then try www.contemprarywheels.com for the rims. I am getting the RS limited Tramas 17" and they are selling them for 110.00. They are sale from 230.00. i think that the rims that you want are selling for about 125.00 on that site. Try it out and maybe save some $$..josh thumb

Bad news, the Tire Rack's specs recommend an 8.5" wheel width for that tire, with 8.0" being the minimum. In general, the lower the profile, the closer the tire has to match the wheel. Short sidewalls just do not allow a wide range of wheel widths. It's that safety issue again, keeps getting in the way of us having too much fun!!

I just tried the website and it is acting up. I have noticed that it has been doing this for a few days. I know that those rims are on there. Try to call them and see what they say. They were on sale along with the tramas....josh thumb

Ijust ordered the Yokohama es100's for my slicers. Based of the stats and reviews, the Yoko's seem a little more favorable.

The wheels SHOULD work. They're only 2 mm different in offset than the last 7.5" wide wheels I had. 245 is a little much for what you need. I could not guarantee a clean install with those tires. I think you'd be better off with 235/40 18s.

this is a little late in the thread, but the kuhmos 712 ecsta supra are very good tires. in the dry there is better tires, but at a cost, in the wet, not much better. and i have never heard of people not liking the kuhmos, just my experience. and i would reccomend them to everyone. i autocrossed them for 1.5 seasons and had a track day on them, got around 20k-25k. and when you factor in the price, a great deal. but tires are different things to different people. and depending on the state of suspension on a car, that will affect a persons opinion of the tires. and the level of air also!!

Perfect with the 245mm tires you'll just be closer to rubbing than with a 235mm tire because of the rims 42mm offset. If it had a 40mm offset you would have just a bit more leeway with the 245mm tire. My friend in his Maxima is running 245/40/18 on 18x8 TSW's with no problem, the rim looks flush with the tire, I dont see any safety issues there.

I have the 712's also and they are great tires for the price. My last set, the Summitomo HTRZII(235/45-17) were a little stickier, but at the expense of mileage. I only managed around 10,000 miles till bald on the Summitomo's. I did summit point and the dragstrip at last years convention and there is only a minor wear on the Kuhmo's.

I do have to say that I am not going to get the Kumho's again though, because I want a little more grip. (not that they aren't grippy, I just want a little more). I will probably go back to the Summitomo's if something else doesn't pop up for around $100 a piece.
