I have a BIG traction problem and I think it might be my suspension!!
I'm not claiming to have allot of power but when I puch it even from a 20 or 30 roll, all I do is spin!!
I'm getting new tires soon but I will like to upgrade my suspension too.

Now I don't have a money tree :( but I will like to upgrade my suspension.
So what's the best set up?
What will give me the most bang for the buck?

You'll have to define best and what exactly you're looking to get out of it. How does your traction problem exhibit itself? Do you have wheel hop? What else are you wanting the car to do differently? What don't you want the car to do/be?

I would like to lower the front like 2" or so, I would like the car to hook when I try to take off.
I don't feel any wheel hop!!
When I floor it @ 20mph I just see my RPM's shoot up!!
Almost like when you try to take off when its rainy!!
when I floor it in 2nd gear it does the same thing. :(

For a 2" drop I would go with Intrax and cut one dead coil up front. As far as struts, I would go with Koni or Tokico. There are other strut choices, however, I would look for something stiffer than stock.

Tires spining !!
There is no smell of burned clutch!!

At first I though it was my 9lb flywheel !!

You may find that the spinning goes away with new tires.

Agreed. I don't have much tire spinning issues with my car 2nd gear. I do have a little wheel spin in first....

I have almost no traction in 2nd now... Damn altitude (or lack there of)! My car is slower now!

I gaurantee your clutch is fried if you're RPMs shoot up when you floor it in second...unless yer boosted...

What does your speed show when the rpm's jump? If its the wheels then the speed will jump along with the rpm's, and if it's the clutch then the speed won't change but the revs will jump.

That depends if there is any clutch material left...

I just did my Rod bearings and the 9lb flywheel change about 1,300 miles ago !!
So I took a good look at my clutch and it was in good condition.

What kind of tires? Brand / model / tred depth? You can peel them all day long if your suspension is shot... all your weight is transfering to the rear, and off the front tires.

Goodyear Eagles were bad about tire wear.. some of the 225/60/16's GA's GA+4's and some others were really great new, but after a few 1,000 miles, they lost their grip. Still had plenty of tread, just too hard of a compound. Tires really will make a big difference too.

You want cut intrax, and koni's. See if you can't find $1,000 laying around, and get the adjustable control arms, and strut rods up front with new polys, and you'll love it. Match that with tires, and you probally won't hear your tires spin again, unless you dump the clutch. ;)

I'm with the others above..... this isn't the case of bad tires.... really a stock MTX SHO will light up the tires rolling it on in 2nd? hmmm we just don't have that kind of torque

just cause your clutch slipped doesn't nessecarily mean you will smell it..... especially if this happens once, you let off the gas and go home to think about it...... if you did that repeatedly for 15-20 mins you might start smelling some nice smells..

wouldn't you be smelling rubber and putting off smoke if you were really lighting the tires up? this just doesn't seem right
