Anyone have any ideas, or insider info, as to why there is no 25th Anniversary edition, or even mention, for 2014?

Easy... because it became a Ford Five Hundred for a while... and now needs to start all over for a continuous 25 years!

Well, you took it a step further nynd....its just a special version of an appliance....and they never had 5 or 10yr anniversary cars....so I don't understand why there should be.

89 to 95 went well. Then the 96 to 99 was a black eye due to the cam failures that the manufacturer did not want to discuss. Then no activity at all from 2000 to 2009.
You get the idea.

Actually, the Taurus itself wasn't gone for all that long, not even a full year. The 4th gen Taurus ended as a 2007 model year, then the 5th gen begun as a 2008 model year as a rebadged Five-Hundred. As for having an anniversary edition for just the SHO, I doubt they would have an anniversary edition just for a sub-model, they'd much rather celebrate the entire model lineup. So if they were to have a 25th Anniversary edition, it would've been for the 2011 model year. I'd be looking for an anniversary edition in the 2026 model year, since 40 seems to be the more favorable anniversary to celebrate.

They probably still won't.

And there's still all the confusion over which generation is which.
I still can't figure it out.

Gen 1 - 86-91
Gen 2 - 92-95
Gen 3 - 96-99
Gen 4 - 00-07
Gen 5 - 08-09
Gen 6 - 10-present

These are the Taurus full line up generations, not SHO, as generations 4 & 5 didn't offer a SHO sub-model.

SHO Gens:
Gen 1 - 89-91
Gen 2 - 92-95
Gen 3 - 96-99
Gen 4 - 10-present

Actually the SHO Club is recognizing the 10-12 as Gen 4 and the 13-present as Gen 5.

Ford calls '86 - '95 as Gen 1, '96 - '99 is Gen 2, and I don't know (and don't really care) what they called the rest after that.

Nonetheless, other than my '89s being 25 years old this year, there's no way there could ever be a 25th Anniversary for the SHO with an 11-year gap from '99 to '10.

Not sure why the '13 would be a different generation than the '10-'12, they're the same car just with a minor facelift for '13. Take the Mustang for example.....Gen 1 goes from 64 1/2 to '73, and look at how many drastic changes came during that time frame, as well as the gen 5 Mustang, which runs from '05-'14. Just my opinion.

The are as many differences between the '10-'12 models and the '13+ models as there are between the '89-'91 and the '92-'95 models. That's why the SHO Club decided to go with Gen 5 for the '13+ models.
