a while ago someone posted pics of some aluminum tubular rear control arms that someone was making. my question is, who was making them? i forgot and i can't find the post. does anyone know what they weigh? if its only a 1/2 pound difference per arm then i won't bother, if its a pound loss though, i am going to try them.

94shoboy,

Are you going to be driving your car on the street, or is it a track-only car? The reason I ask is that Zach's custom bars use solid bar ends which on the street will be terrible due to a complete lack of compliance. Nevermind that they will also eventually corrode. These should probably be considered a track-only mod.

The GTP arms are about the same weight as the factory rear arms (see DeaconBlue's post on suspension upgrades today), but they have rubber bushings to isolate them.

The GTP arms are much cheaper than those custom made control arms. The custom made SHO control arms are $450 for the set, while the GTP arms are around $70 a piece.

autox:: i will only have the car on the street in the summer for weekends and night racing, other then that its a track only car. it will be garaged all winter, so i am not worried.
he also said that his aluminum arms are a little lighter then stock arms, but he never weighed them so he can't give me specifics.

blast:: he is only charging 275 plus shipping for the full set, which is about the same price as the GTP arms when its all said and done.

he said he only had a couple sets that weren't spoken for yet and they wil be finished in the next week or two, i now have my name on one of the sets

If it's a track only car, go for it. The benefit of having lighter arms is amplified by them being unsprung weight. (If they are indeed lighter).

I just wanted to discourage people from buying these for street use - they are not suitable for this kind of use.

considering that my car sucks in the rain as is, after tossing on another 150hp, i don't think it will see water again, maybe once a year if i get stuck in it. it will deff never see snow and road salt again. i hope the weight difference is at least a couple pounds, i will weigh them when i get them to see.

Is this the same guy who posted them on the delphi forum? If it is then that is a great price.

Damn didn't know about the corroding thing, know the soild ends squeaked abit and are louder. Figured the added handing couldn't be worse than the squeaks and harshness added by springs, solid bushings and Polyurethane bushings. Darn it they looks so nice and the price wasn't bad now I'm depressed. GTP arn't lighter oh well I knew have been offset completely by the H brace but I figure any savings would have been good.
