I am looking at some flowmaster muffs on ebay that have the offset inlet and offset oultet with 2.25 inch pipe at the muffler. The part number is 42443. Is this correct, will it fit the SHO. It doesn't give the dimensions, please let me know if it would work and what type of dimensions would work.

Thanks, Mike

The 42443 is the mufflers I am running. They are 2.25" mufflers, and they will need to be installed at a muffler shop. I tried cutting and clamping, but there is not enough room under there.

You won't be disappointed !

BTW,how much are they? New? I paid $59.99 each early last year, from Summit.com

Jason, thanks, I was replying to Mark's while you were posting, I guess I will bid. the Current bid is at 50 or 60 for two with a reserve. I am going to bid and see what happens. Thanks for the help all. By the way, are they oval or flat?

Uh,semi oval? They look like regular mufflers. They are just a bit shorter than the stock ones.

Good luck!

Hey Jay, I know this might be a stupid question, but I know you will hear a difference, but HOW much of a difference? performance gains?

From what I gather, there is almost no performance gains(some people claim losses) when you change the mufflers.

You have heard Kirk's car, right,Brian? His car has no third cat,no resonator, and the same mufflers I have. His car seems to be noticeably louder than mine, with the third cat being the only difference.

I don't know how to tell you the diff. in sounds. It just SOUNDS better

Cause I am thinking of doing the Series 40 Flowmasters, and a round, slant cut tip.

Yeah FEI (for everyones info) I have the v6, so I am wondering how it will sound with duals, using this **** + tip combo... Some people are telling me it will sound ****** with duals, and some say it will sound nice..

I was also thinking of removinig the resonator......THINKING OF!

Any opinions???????

Brian

The muffs should be somewhat the same size...oval in shape. A few inches makes no difference.

I have the center/offset and they worked ok too. My muffler guy said he should have ordered the offset/offset but its not that big of a deal.

I would like to see data on a before and after situation involving addition of performance mufflers. I would want to duplicate atmospheric conditions to compare apples to apples of course. I think I have experienced a gain in HP but only slight. I like the way it sounds anyway.

I dont think there are such a thing, you will gain a few HP on the top side but may loose a little TQ on the bottom. Tough Trade! I did mine cause I wanted sound

Oh Brian I forgot to mention a few things.. A six cyl will sound like a heard of bees with any of the after market mufflers discussed here. And if you want to drool you might want to take a ride up to see my addition to the motor when you get a chance
