Hi all,
I am reassembly my BBB and was wondering what color loctite to use on the plate bolts. I thought I remember reading that you should use purple stuff, but I cant seem to locate any. All I found was the blue and red stuff. Or the "Penetrating loctite" that is supposed to be put on after it is assembled. Should the blue be fine or will I not be able to get them out again with it? They are only 3mm bolts. Thanks

There's only one loc-tite specified for tiny screws and bolts. I can't remember the color, but it's the one specified for small hardware.

Googleing "loc-tite small" provided me with this immediate answer:

Loctite 22221 Small Screw Thread Threadlocker

Loctite 22221 Small Screw Thread Threadlocker is what you need. Yes it is purple.

I used to rebuild Lawnmower engines back in my early teens to make some cash. Used this stuff regularly...

Red has been used as well.
You can also steak the back side for extra protection.

I used red Loc-Tite with mine. I didn't want to ingest a little screw and I had just completely rebuilt the BBB's, so I'm not overly concerned with having to take them apart ever.

Didnt find any purple (which is what I used last time). All the places I went to had green "Penetrating" thread locker. It was rated for the size fastners I was using. It said to apply where the threads went in after the fastner was installed. I put it on the threads and applied afterwards to be safe.
