Hi there, I'm a proud new owner of a '94 MTX SHO. I got my car for a steal, and it's actually in great condition, but unbeknownst to me at the time of sale, it's originally from a salt state (PA), and has hidden rust in certain places. The rocker panels are completely gone, and there are some rather sizable holes in the doglegs. Rocker panels I can get, but I can't find a dogleg anyplace. Luckily for me the rest of the under-body has been rubber coated, so I'm safe there. But I'd really like to fix this rust before it gets any worse. By the way, I LOVE this car! It's only my second Ford, and by far the best car I've ever owned. So glad to have found this forum.

You may be able to get the doglegs, but they are about $60.00 a side and are not really worth it. They can be made and installed by the same people you have install the rocker panels.

And the rocker panels that you buy will be the outer cover, you will still have to create and install the back panel of the rocker panel, as yours will be in bad shape.

It is not a difficult job, but very time consuming. You will be making cardboard panels for the dog legs that you will then use to cut out the shapes on the steel panel you are going to buy.

Good luck, and remember, most of your work is covered by the plastic cladding, so concentrate on using the seam sealer and rust prevention paint and techniques.

I looked on some sites that carried doglegs in the past (Cross-Canada Autobody, Showparts, etc) and I don't see them listed anymore. So repairing the existing ones on your car looks like the only solution now. Unless you want to do an intensive search.

Even when they were available, I would have never bought them due to the price.

The important part is to seal the back side of the dog leg, even if it is with roofing tar or something similar, but seam sealer is a nice touch. It is the same thing with the rocker-panels, the part you don't see is the most important part. And open up the drain holes on the bottom, as your front moon-roof drains empty into the rocker panels.
