At less then $85 per tire you are really looking at the cheapo side of performance tires. Those yok's and the khumo's 712 in the W speed are considered the best bang for the buck UHP tires. My scca region perfers the Khumo's.
Either way you get a lot of bang for the buck.

I use the Kumhos 712s 245/45/16s on my '97. Never did get them to break loose at Summit Point. Best rain tire I've ever had. Absolutely no good at all below 40F.

I checked lots of tires and bought Yokohama AVSdb 16-60-225's and am glad I did. Great performance, excellent in rain, good tread wear, very quiet. The 225's have an extra tread layer. Paid $106 ea at Discount Tire.

I have the Hankook Ventus K102's and I think they perform very well. But I guess I will really know when I get my suspension done. thumbs_u

I just received a set of the 235/45-17 ES100s for my wife's Maxima SE. I must say that they look to have a great deal of traction potential. Another SHO owner has a set of 225/55-16 ES100s on the slicers on his 1991 SHO and he is extremely pleased with their dry and wet road traction. For the money, they seem to be performing way out of their league.

FWIW...I just put a set of BFG g-force KDWS 225/55-WR16's on my slicers 2 months ago. ($101/ea at Tirerack) I just spent 2 days driving through this mess (ice/snow) in the Carolinas and was "very" pleasantly surprised with the wet/snow handling characteristics. I was expecting these to be a very good tire in dry conditions and average in wet but they've exceeded my expectations.
