Went for a long drive over the weekend to meet up with some friends from college and everything was fine but as I was driving home from work today I noticed this weird sound coming from the car. I noticed the sound as I was on a 55mph zone that was freshly paved. It sounds like it’s coming from the rear half of the vehicle and almost sounds like an electronic whirring noise (if that makes sense) and I want to say it’s around the rear axle area. The noise is low but noticeable to me and it matches the speed the car is going so it’s a higher pitch and speed at high speeds and vice versa. I just had my brakes checked and the guys didn’t touch them because they said they look brand new and they’re a very reliable shop near me. I am looking to change the rdu and put fluid soon but I wanted to see if anyone has an idea of what I’m hearing or if they have heard this before. I have a 2013 non-pp

Let me also add that I did try this on a few different roads after coming home from drill just to test it on older roads to make sure it just wasn’t from new pavement and it’s still made the sounds on them as well

Check the rear wheel hubs/bearings. Any noticeable looseness or roughness, replace the assembly.
@Texas Marauder possible its a fuel pump sound? I havent heard of complaints about our pumps making sounds.... just throwing it on the wall to see if it could stick. I agree with you, not knowing miles a '13 could be well over 100K and bearings are starting to go.

while in there, check for stuff stuck in the brakes or bent shields etc. might as well check rdu fluid level and condition too.

nothing really to whir back there, up front, the belt tensioner can do that.

the speed does make u think bearings tho.

Thanks guys I’ll have these all checked for me at my buddies shop and I’ll report back the findings for future reference
