I have a 2014 Taurus SHO w/ 83K miles. I bought it in mid 2019 w/ 47K miles. When acceleration is slow/mild, it creates this "gurgle" type of noise. Under heavy acceleration, it's not there. I've seen someone mention about the cam phasers but I had both cam phasers and timing chain replaced last year. Any idea what the cause of this is? The noise doesn't change when the engine is cold or warm.

Another guy on YouTube was able to capture the exact sound perfectly doing the exact same thing.

I would check your motor mounts and tq mounts. Kinda sounds harmonic to me.

Aftermarket intake?
Everything is stock. A soccer mom had it before I did and traded it for an SUV once her kids wanted to do hockey lol

No problems with either. Ford examined those too.

Run open downpipes. Little noise “gone”
I'm 100% for this but I'm sure the snow would disagree. I'm not in the rust belt (Wyoming).

More info. It's actually more noticeable upon slow acceleration. As you accelerate harder, the more it goes away. Plugs were replaced w/ OEM around 55K miles. PTU replaced around 52K miles due to a leak. Cam Phasers and Timing Chain (as mentioned in original post). I went back through all service logs but it doesn't seem like the any of the VCT Solenoids was replaced.

Where are the VCT solenoids at? Anybody have a diagram or picture?
Under the valve cover. You can see the connector on the rear left of the back valve cover. Connector sticks out. Need to just remove valve cover to replace.
They are easy. They have a screen on them so if you have issues maybe clean them up a bit first before replacing

Curious saw you said a soccer mom had it, wonder if she never beat the **** out of it. Even with my F150, dealer recommended taking it out and running the dog sh*t out of it at least once a month, especially Ecoboosts, to free up all that gunk from engine to exhaust.

That's what I thought but the SHO only has 1 per bank? I thought both the 3.5 and 3.7 had 2 per bank?

And does anyone have experience w/ Dorman's VCT Solenoid? I saw one post where a guy had an issue with it, possibly due to voltage but wondering if that might have been a fluke?

Dorman makes a lot of stuff, I've used many of their products. But flukes exist. And in today's time with factories are having such high turnover, quality isn't what it used to be. I'm in medical manufacturing and shocked what quality clears to be shipped to customers.

If you replace it just go oem. Rockauto would have it cheaper for factory one. Its probably motorcraft but made by bosch if it says made in Germany

does the noise change with acceleration and/or speed? are you logging your drives? if so, post some mild vs heavy throttle data. csv or xls format plz.
