Here's my situation. I had my(usually reliable) mechanic replace the valve cover gaskets on my 93. I discovered he didn't push sparkplug wire seals all the way down when he buttoned it back up. I washed engine after I got it back therefore many of the plug tubes became filled with water. It had been driven aprox 80mi like this. It was running rough which led me to check and discover problem. Got water out using turkey baster. I think I got it brfore any serious damage. Anyone else had similar problem? If so. Damage?

I'm sure you're not the first one to have this happen. Washing your Yamahammer with a hose is a no no. What usually happens, is that the water in the spark plug wells turns into steam as the engine heats up. The steam then "pops" the plug wire off, causing a misfire. You will need to completely dry out the wells, and wire ends. Compressed air works great in this situation. The good news, no damage. When I clean my engine, I use some simple green, etc... and a rag.

As stated above, these motors don't take well to pressurized water. So your mechanic "may" have properly seated the wires, and water getting into the plug wells was a result of washing the engine. How's it running now?
