 just raced an RX-8 coming down from the cities on 77. I was cruising and a blue RX-8 passed me from the middle lane when he went by i noticed the marine sticker in his back window, so know what miltlary guys are like i accelerated and got behind him. Sure enough he started to takeoff and I was right behind him. We were ducking and weaving through traffic doing probably a 110 once we got to open highway i started to pull away from him by a good couple of car lengths then we got to where cedar meets 35 and traffic started to build up. He got off at the first exit after 35 and mine was next. I will take that highway race as a win for the Gen III SHO and a loss for the RX-8:evilgrin:

RX-8:hail: To the SHO!!!

I thought it was funny, if you doubt me then you will burn.:laugh_ti:

I believe it. I kept up with one back when i had my ATX v6 SHO. I also walked one pretty damn well in the highway from 50-100 when my Mustang was stock. Good ****. I bet that guy was feeling pretty bad for himself thinking his brand new rotary powered car lost to a Taurus.

Awesome ****.

LOL @ over-rated rotary engines. The idea is good , but they can't seem to do anthing better than a piston engine.

the rx7 isnt really built for straight line speed more for handling, and you have to admit it is kinda fun to drive a car that can rev to almost 10000 rpms.

Nice ****, but maybe save it for empty highways at 2am next time? Ducking and weaving through traffic at 110mph isn't a good way for you or your car to last very long. :oogle:

I could open a whole can of worms in regards to the rotaries since ive owned as many of them as i have shos. But since ill keep me mouth shut on that i will comment about rx8's. Everyone talks about how gutless and torque less they are and with an automatic they are right. But i have to say that a 6 speed rx8 is one of the smoothest drivetrains ive ever felt and is a blast to drive. They didnt have racetrack like torque down low but they still have plenty of power down low. More than any of my shos did until the secondaries opened. The only thing that kept me from buying one is that they have so many computer gizmos and techniques on the renesis that have nothing to do with the old wankels im accustomed to that it scared me off. If they are driven right and maintained right they are very durable engines. I used to race a couple of first gen rx7s i owned and they put up with alot of abuse. Im a sucker for rotaries. The problem is that the media and magazines try to class the rx8 within all these classes that out perform it or under perform it. In all seriousness it has a class of its own. Granted it doesnt have the greatest fuel economy. Its performance more than makes up for it.
